The mans basslines is what initially attracted me to

They are articulate, clear, energetic, and layered intelligently. I see a lot of trance that just has the sub and I'm never impressed by them. I'm likely obsessed with running basses but a good one is not easy to make, and blueman spits them out left and right like its a joke to him. Seems some artists avoid them all together because they can't do it right. I know I'm just being bias but seriously, theres a lot more to his music than his epic melodies.

I agree with this. Incidentaly Robbie, on the subject of these perfected trance basses a chap over on the Anjuna forum a while back astounded me. He was an amateur non signed guy who quickly made the perfect trance roller. He used a Dutch synth which I forget the name of but he claimed this his secret weapon. It was a soft synth that came out about 18 months ago but I cannot remember the name. I've searched for you but cannot find it. It was about Ģ100 or so in mid 2009 from memory and I think it was Dutch.

I usualy make the standard claim that it is the skills of the producer, not the tools, but in this case that synth sound was the best I ever heard for trance bass by far.

I'll keep trying to recall the product for ya but my memory for such things is sh1te even though my spatial memory is spot on (I can visit somewhere hunmdreds of miles away and find it again years later without a map).

"Proper trance"? Give me a ing break. We've been having this debate for a decade now and it's got us nowhere.

no a genre its not subjective. this track contains everything that defines trance as a genre, i can list them up for you if you want.

if i said it was a great track, which it btw is, it would be subjective, but i didnt. i sayd that thats what trance sounds like. what you guys are listening to is euro/anthem.

is it subjective that heavy metal have fuzz guitars too? think about it.

btw robby did ask for examples. i posted the most perfect example of what true trance is. i can give more too if needed but they all have the same elements.

im just gonna post another one so you youngsters can learn some history:

@4:30 what its all about right there!!

Well, you can't deny genres evolve. What's called trance now wasn't called trance 10 years ago and even vice versa. It's just that uplifting/euro/ in general is crap, and no that's not subjective :o.
ken_lee
i deny that they evolve. they die and new genres take from older genres. what you people think is trance is actually something very different; epic eurocheezee. trance is what it is and its dead, sorry u missed it :)

edit: another one

you might understand why i dont respect andy bīs blog when this is what i grew up with.

Hey that sounds quite like the story of a fish that swam and died. His offspring started walking on land and then died while his offspring walked on. ;) Either that or it's God intended creation hehe.

yes trance did evolve from like 1990 to 2000, its alot of changes through those years. but then it was over, it could not evolve no more without just being recycled. trance artist started making progressive house, techno or just plain house, while new artists tried to steal the formula from the most known and cheesy trance tracks from 99 (ferry corsten etc), the very tracks that defines the death of trance. so we had a new genre with supersaws only. armin and boys lol it was a sad run from there. at the same time hardhouse and hardtrance appeared and got instant success, leaving proper trance without a crowd. but that died too. it all does, only house will be for ever. dont think its worth to have another round here about this, it has been discussed up and down in MD and no one agrees. but thats how i witnessed it.

I still like some artists such as coldblue, simon patterson and above&beyond.
Recently the top ten on Audiojelly are all trance - anyone have any thoughts on this? Perhaps audiojelly attracts the trance crowd?

That's like saying modern bands aren't rock because they don't all sound like Zeppelin or something, are you really this convoluted? Jesus Christ.

I don't know why you even attempted to refute what Fledz said when 1) he's right and 2) you're not saying anything different than what he reacted to in the first place. You're just used to listening to older trance and refuse to acknowledge anything new, that's perfectly fine but stop trying to convince people that your view on music is "better" than ours. You like your music, we like ours. Is it really that hard to just let that be the end of it, instead of trying to "convert" people to listening to what you think is better music? That's the stupidest thing I've ever seen someone do, and at the very least it's still extremely elitist.
Rodri Santos
I consider Andy Blueman good trance but at the same time i consider good trance (to be honest slightly better trance) things that are trance also but sound completely different.

This is a ing moster.

And this used to be real uplifting trance

And i could post anything about Airbase, i think it's the only producer that was and is still great, Ferry Corsten, Tiesto, Oakenfold, PvD... they made great tracks but now their music is lame. Airbase keeps being on top of his game.

Well i am going to add another gem by a dear Trance Addict.

Airwave, Lolo, Fire & Ice... who cares you've made some of the best music i can remember

In any genre in music, life, world, fishing, hunting, swimming, running, tv, movie etc. older people will always crave for the things that existed when they were young. Be it better or worse than today's things. It's pretty pointless to argue. You will eventually be saying those same things Palm said, to people 10 years younger than you.

I wouldn't expect no different on this forum. When someones far outside your daily reality you tend to judge them with more scrutiny. And if he posted on this forum there'd be a lot of people likely trying to win his respect. People are generally fake like that. I could prob make a new account with his name and aNYthing would be the first person trying to befriend me.
Anyway yeh, it doesn't matter either way.

So what you're trying to say is that, you'd let M4D you in real life?
