It is perfectly normal for buildings to sway this much in the wind. The CN Tower at the top will sway almost 7' in either direction...

The reason that this vid is interesting is that the buildings are not swaying together in the same direction which I think increases the visual effect...

I've always kinda wanted to experience an earthquake but not like this!!!

And little did they know that the wave was now on it's way...

Sorry..

Even the wave was worse in 2004. In some areas the wave was peaking at 100' tall. Tallest waves in recorded history. The one in Japan maxed out at ~30-35'.

What made this one interesting is the videos that were available from this one. You can see it washing over cities, taking out buildings and trucks like they are made of lego. Its awe inspiring.

there is nothing fun about experiencing the earthquake - it is ing crazy scary
when I lived in Cyprus, we'd get quite of a few shakes during the year - buildings are also build in a special way to withstand the shaking
paint still cracked and pictures fell off the walls - in the middle of the night it's beyond terrifying!
we used to have both fire and earthquake drills in school

Here's a live stream of what's going on there: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/japanhelpchannel
It shows lots of unbelievable footage and doesn't repeat the same videos over and over like CNN etc.
What an awful disaster. I am still waiting to hear from a friend who is trying to find out if her family is safe. I cannot imagine how upsetting it must be to not be able to communicate with your relatives to see if they are ok. :(

The US Geological Survey is reporting that the coast of Japan has shifted 8 feet (2.4m) because of the earthquake in Japan. The Earth's axis has reportedly been shifted 10 inches too.
