That much I'm aware of.
However, that did not end after the 90s (and suddenly reappear just now). The Science Centre was used for a rave as recently as 2008, there was the last Daft Punk show at that place by the airport, Tiesto at Ricoh a couple times, there's been all of Promise's warehouse parties, innumerable warehouse parties from other crews, and plenty of other miscellaneous locations from smaller promoters (I'm thinking of some events at the go kart track up at Downsview, UofT, dance studios, galleries, that theater on Spadina, etc).
Yeah. Shout outs to Carnivale and Deadmau5/his promoters for their recent ambitious events, they're the ones who deserve the credit.
There have been a few scattered small events. But nothing as big or frequent as before. And the frequency is starting to return as well as the momentum to attract large crowds.
There is no doubt that have a long decline, things are rejuvenating. It takes the will of the market as well as the tolerance of the authorities. Why is it that everyone complains about Adam Vaughans assault on the clubscene (something i used to be critisized about on this very board as if it was a fairy tale before it was an accepted fact) yet when politicians (you might not like) lay off, suddenly it has absolutely nothing to do with politics? Think about it.

Oh damn more CN Tower parties please. I've only been in Toronto for 5 years and never knew they had occurred but always wanted one. That would just be :eyes: :eyes: :eyes:
Would be epic to bring it back!

you may think or say that it may never happen but it already did happen before. With increase in popularity of edm music there is an increase in irresponsible behavior.
"Parents Of Girl That Died At Electric Daisy Rave Are Suing Concert Promoter"
this was all over the news this summer. It happened in US but if it was to happen here all hell would break lose. I find that US is slightly more lenient when it comes to partying and throwing events..
I went to the EDC in 2008 in downtown LA and there were like e-puddles everywhere. They weren't letting anymore people come to the floor of the main stadium where PVD, David Guetta and Benny Benassi were set to perform but we all jumped over the fence LA riots style anyway. Yah I do find the events to be more lenient on drug use and partying in general in the states.
That being said, hopefully this Deadmau5 thing will open doors for other 'rave' events to happen in unconventional places. I mean EDM is bigger than ever before in the mainstream so there's money to be made, so I'm sure there will be more events. I also really liked the fact that the acts on this bill were all Canadian as well, so it was a good thing for Canada and EDM combined.

Because Adam Vaughn had a very explicitly anti-nightclub agenda. The Ford Administration so far has had no apparent nightlife-related interests one way or another, nor is there any actual evidence of them having one. Their influence on present events is purely speculation (and very strenuous speculation, at that).

I'm going to have to disagree. There is an anti-nightclub agenda even if the Ford Administration doesn't have any interest in it. It exists and it's happening as we speak.
Don't believe me? Drive around in the Entertainment District and take a closer look at the Construction Signs near the venues or even right beside the venues.
Do you really think most nightclub owners can survive fighting multiple (the most retarded) tickets a week, and who hands out these tickets? AGCO...
