I mean when will there be another huge party in the skydome?? Also, it goes until 2?? Will there be booze (methinks not). |
why not?
there is booze at all concerts and sporting events with many kids around. |

This does NOT deserve it's own thread seeing as it's been discussed in another one for the past 3 days...
|
It was discussed in another thread that was on a completely different topic. The only similarity was that they both involve Deadmau5.
As much as I dislike Deadmau5 I would definitely say this deserves its own thread. Especially since there are many people who may not have even read the thread you are referring to. |

Well, I do know back in the day when we were always looking for cool venue to hold raves at the Skydome was available to us. It was actually pretty cheap at the time (dirt cheap to be honest), but the biggest issue was the sound issue's. The place has terrible acoustics for that type of party.
Things might be different now since Rogers owns it though... |
The acoustics in there are terrible!!! I went to one of the SARS concerts there years ago, and the sound was awful. I can't see it being any different now. |

lol , it's true! I started this thread hoping mau5 would read it and ask me to play the skydome with him! LOL!

First of all, it's liquid nitrogen not carbon dioxide...
And that would actually be a great addition to the show...
Let me know if you can set that up...
Lol... |

No, the place still is dirt cheap. Roger loses money on the building and is just glad to see it used.
You pretty much get the venue for free in exchange for concession (minimums). Depending on the crowd size these concessions are pretty much guaranteed.
Yes, you'll need to pony up for insurance and build-up/tear-down/equipment rental - but as far as the venue goes, you can practically get it for free. |

Its not the first time a concert has been held at Skydome...I'm sure they will figure it out. |
I think the emphasis on sound quality for EDM events is much larger though. For concerts the focus is on the live performance of artists creating music on the spot and part of that is an understanding quality likely won't be top notch. Ie you're used to listening to their music via a pre-recorded track but they're live now so you're not expecting the same level of quality. With EDM the tracks are the same whether it's at home or a DJ playing them to you, so you notice the difference more imo...
That and from what I've seen most concerts in any stadium blow for sound. The larger the size the more it sucks. I'm no sound pro but I'd guess it's due to more noticeable echo and bounceback from extra distance between the speakers and metal/cement walls? Maybe they're hoping the average E'd out 18 year old mau5 fan won't notice or care. |

For most EDM events i would agree but personally, i think Deadmau5 is more of a concert then an EDM event. |

And I agree with this 100%...
I'm just saying it was already being discussed in a different thread and there was an agenda for creating this one... |
no worries, wasn't referring to anyone in particular (you). Was just being general in saying that no matter who you are (anyone), this is a huge accomplishment for the edm scene here in Toronto. Thinking about it now, I'm actually curious & wouldn't mind going. |
