I made it work that night, I guess you guys should have seen me in action :p
Of course I don't wear sneakers to work, I'm not a complete tool :) Depending on the suit and shirt I'm wearing, it's either a black shoes black belt combo, or a creme/caramel/cognac/whatsitcalled shoes and belt combo.
Something like this:

shirt cuffs do not show in that pic but they do when im walking around.this was the suit i wore that 2 people asked me what i was wearing.a woman and a man.i really like the cut of this suit.it fit very well and was very comfortable.if i had a choice i would have worn a matching Yves Saint Laurent dress shirt with it as i like the cut and style of Laurent's clothes. |

White shoes and a white belt are , no matter who the sales person is. White is for sneakers and casual shoes, and you still wear a black belt with those if you have to. |
This.

And this.
Ignoring the whole Lira saga and whether it's impolite to wear them to a wedding, wearing sneakers with a suit makes you look like an immature kid, which is completely at odds with what a suit is about - formality and maturity. Same goes for wearing t-shirts under suit jackets. Apart from that, white shoes of any kind should not be paired with a suit, ever. It's an absolutely hideous look and people will not take you seriously if you continue to do it. |

heh We should all try an experiment and go into stores and just ask them to reccommend things & see how many of us come out dressed like we're 16 again. |

Okay, here's a picture of me in a suit, right before I went into my interview with Intel. Hate away :)

No sneakers here :p |

| The pants are too long and seem to fit weird around your waste too. See how the pockets tick out? Also it looks like the sleeves might be a bit too long on the jacket as well, but other than that the jacket seems to fit nicely. |

Did you have that fit, or just pick up off the shelves based on your 'usual' clothing sizes Nick? It looks a bit big to me in places. |

The pants were actually a big hassle, because I originally got the wrong size. They looked better when I adjusted them better around my waist, in that picture the pants were quite low on me. The jacket fits great, though.
The jacket and pants were fitted based on my size and the sales clerk's opinion, but not hemmed or altered. |

Yeah the jacket seems to fit nicely aside from the cuffs possibly being a bit too long. |

| I thought it looked great, and I received several comments from the engineers saying "did you not get the memo? nobody wears suits here." lol |

| Haha yeah my company is the same way. I wore a suit to my interview obviously, but the dress code here is very business casual. |
