I'd rather listen to bricks flying around inside of a tin washing machine.

I don't really know either.. I guess I'm trying to find out if other COR members will jack their body to music they won't normally listen to, just to get it on with a hot chick. Which, now that I think of it, is pretty damn obvious.

Hip-Hop sucks.

Those are pretty good actually...
Okay. Allow me to adjust my statement...
Most post 99 hip hop sucks balls...
Those two you posted were very pre 2000 style...
I'm talking about this other crap like Souldja Boy and the like. Walking throughthe Orange Room(our hip hop room at Guv) on a sat night makes me nauseous...
Get what I mean??

Anyone who says that hip-hop sucks now is just too lazy to find the artists that still put out good music (just like any other genre of music).

Well to be fair, he has a point. Mainstream hip-hop has a tendency to suck donkey balls.

I used to "read" a good hip-hop song. Listening to any of it bores me to tears.
I suppose I am more musical than lyrical.
The lyrics have less significance to me, and the music itself is what matters. People who are lyrical tend to overlook the crappy music being played because the actual words are what they are listening to.
I hope this makes sense.

Mainstream anything sucks though. It's watered down and generic so it will be popular with more people. That's the case with any genre.

Yah yah yah I've heard it all before Rusty...
I'm just jaded from what I've heard in my small part of the musical world..
You're 100% right in that I am lazy. I hear music in a club or on the radio. I don't go looking for it...

It does, and while a good or catchy beat can be enjoyable, it's more often the case that the people who have the best beats have the worst or least interesting lyrics.
I suggest anyone who thinks hip hop sucks these days should check out Lupe Fiasco's new album "Lasers." Also Raekwon has a newish album out too.
I'm not really sure if it's the case, but I've heard that RAP=Rhythm and Poetry, and the best rappers are the ones who combine the best beats and melodies with the most meaningful or interesting lyrics. Notorious BIG and Big L were the best at this imo, because so many of their songs told stories. They weren't just bragging about material possessions, money, or girls, they were telling stories.
Give this song a listen, I heard it on the Colbert Report recently and both the beat and the lyrics are pretty good.

Obviously you've never listened to good hip hop - which is quite musical.
