Does the COR approve if I (or anyone else) occasionally like(s) a hiphop/r&b tune? (pg. 6)

I would go to a death metal concert.

beaing dark skinned is the best of both worlds. so long as you don't look arab, the blacks like you, and the whites aren't scared of you.

I have no reason to ever go to the hood, so I'm not all that concerned with whether "the blacks" dislike me for my skin tone or not.

Also, I don't really think you look hispanic at all. I would guess Italian or Jewish.

I'm the same. It's got nothing to do with hipsterism or superiority. It's for the same reason that you wouldn't go to the movies to see Big Momma's House 2, go to a death metal concert or a dinner date with IGK. You just know it's going to be irrelevant to your tastes and not worth the time.

You are missing out on life. I saw Rammstein, and it was probably the best show i've ever seen. I saw Lady Gaga the week before and still managed to have fun. How do you know you don't like broccoli if you don't try it?

If you think the only things that are worth your time are things you already like, that must really suck.

I didn't realize that avoiding things altogether was a sign of superior taste and judgement.

Holy . We tried it, we don't like it.

Tu veux un dessin?

I wasn't aware of that either.
When did we say that we had a superior taste in anything?.. it's not superior, it's just our own.

I guess avoiding mainstream media is like wearing sunglasses at night in clubs to avoid the lazers huh? You do it cause you're just THAT sensitive?

I guess that makes sense.

It's implied in the way you make your argument. And if you didn't really think so, you wouldn't have bothered to open this thread/reply at all.

Everyone feeling entitled to give opinions isn't itself a problem, as a good idea can eventually come from an unlikely source. The problem is when people who know nothing about a particular subject often feel compelled to give their two cents and reckon it should be as valid as the opinion of someone who's spent a lifetime on the matter.

I think when you called hip-hop lyrics "babbling" is where your argument that it just doesn't fit into your taste in music started losing weight. Calling it mindless babbling implies that you think that your taste in music is "better" than hip-hop.

Maybe you didn't intend it, but it came off as a pretty pretentious diatribe against a genre that you even admitted that you avoid altogether.
