Does the COR approve if I (or anyone else) occasionally like(s) a hiphop/r&b tune? (pg. 3)

Obviously you've never listened to good hip hop - which is quite musical.

I have. And it sucked, musically. That type of music does nothing for me.

I still have that PQM set that you gave me years ago...

I listen to it all the time...

The house set is pretty good too...

I used to "read" a good hip-hop song. Listening to any of it bores me to tears.
I suppose I am more musical than lyrical.
The lyrics have less significance to me, and the music itself is what matters. People who are lyrical tend to overlook the crappy music being played because the actual words are what they are listening to.

I hope this makes sense.

This. There is very, very little rap or hip-hop that has much behind it musically. I dislike music which relies on vocals, and thus I dislike 99% of the genre.

Post some examples so I can tell you how you're wrong.

If that was directed at me, I can't watch it. ing Krauts. I'm not sure what their beef is with YouTube and/or the music industry, but I can hardly ever watch anything on there that's music-related.

Heeeere we go.......

Well I'd recommend anything by Wu Tang (especially Raekwon and Ghostface Killah) and Nas if you're looking for songs that are musically interesting as well as having lyrics that are more than just talking about bitches and money.

I couldn't watch the second one after you edited your post, but I tracked it down anyway. What's musical about that? It's the same sampled loop repeating for three straight minutes. How can that compare to something like this (which for the purpose of argument I'm not going to call hip-hop)?

Oh, and to get it out of the way, this is my favourite hip-hop/rap song of all time.

Hardly musical at all. It's an incredibly simple, highly repetitious piano line with bland beats underneath.

I can't enjoy the music over his constant babble. I can't even hear it.

I'd agree that musically that song is more interesting. The thing about hip-hop though is that at least imo the lyrics are more important than the beats behind them. The lyrics are often written first before the music is even produced to go with it. Obviously different people value different aspects of music differently, but for hip-hop I tend to enjoy songs with good lyrics and a decent beat over songs with a great beat and pointless or uninteresting lyrics.

Good people, unfortunately due to circumstances beyond our control, the “clean” version of our new album, The Hot Sauce Committee pt 2 has leaked. So as a hostile and retaliatory measure with great hubris we are making the full explicit aka filthy dirty nasty version available for streaming on our site. We hope this brings much happiness, hugs, and harmony. Enjoy Kikoos for life!

Thank you,

The Management

Netro, I ing hate Beastie Boys with a passion. My girlfriend is a huge fan and gets really upset when I tell her she can't play their music while I'm in the house or car.

Which was Happymess' point in the first place - that she couldn't care less about babbling. She is concerned with music itself. I agreed with that. If there are lyrics, I usually don't care what they say, more so how they sound.

Apart from any of that, I have a problem with any genre that's built almost entirely upon bragging, crassness, ignorance and glorifying violent formative years. I'm well, well aware that hip-hop and rap didn't start this way, but that's certainly what they're about now.
