No, you definitely don't know much about hip hop.
I know enough about it to know that it's not my cup of tea.
It amazes me that you find it so shocking that I just don't like a particular type of music.
Let's pretend, just for the sake of argument, that you dislike Country music. What would you think of me if I were to tell you that you only dislike it because you don't know enough about it.
I submit that you'd probably think that I'm completely silly (to put it mildly).

I wouldn't be stupid enough to comment negatively about a genre I didn't know enough about, and would admit the reason I probably didn't like it is because I didn't know enough about it.
Trust me, I know you don't know about hip hop - I can tell by your argument and the things you've said. ;)

Do you realize how stupid it is to suggest that everybody should enjoy every single type of music known to man provided they knew enough about it? .. you can't be serious. :wtf:

You completely took her words and twisted them around to suit your own purposes. She said one should not comment negatively on a particular genre until they have heard enough of it to form a proper opinion, and this includes tracks that are known as "good". She didn't say you have to enjoy the music before you comment on it, but that you must listen to it, understand it, and do something other than read lyrics in order to have a valid opinion on it. Reading lyrics instead of listening to the music is equivalent to reading a comedian's jokes instead of seeing him perform. You are removing perhaps the most critical element: the delivery.
Essentially, your reasoning is .

And what makes you think that I haven't done that? (see bold). I pretty much grew up listening to it. I know enough about it based on your description. I don't go looking for Hip-Hop songs to read. I listen to them first, then I go read the lyrics to understand them better.
You were the ones who assumed I just didn't know about the genre.

So what hip hop artists and producers did you grow up listening to?
