That would be fun ... Main stage on Olympic main field + 4 other rooms in the garages ... Mega blast :) |

| chop off the first and last stages and you'd have great beats and save $1.5M on booking fees :p |

| The first and last stages make the other 3 possible ;) .... thats the goal |

| Is this one of your new projects Louis, sounds interesting. I would throw in some crazier names in the tech stage, I mean if you have all that pull even a less recognized name would work. Or do you have to keep it pretty commercial? |

if many of those names gathered under the same roof for a show, I would blow up the venue and save dance music:p
just make sure you have a few trucks of crackers and wine for all of that cheese!!!:p |

yea but jay, i dont think an underground even would work at all, but with all that cheese paying the bills and pulling people we could get some good names in the end. if we bug louis about it :p |

I know this man, I'm just playing around.
Unless you would able to secure a huge corporate sponsorships there is no way this would make money here. Too much overhead on talent in a city not big enough to support something like this IMO.
I dont think this is a serious thread zek, just a dreamer one. |

| Even if you win the lottery, you won't have the $$ to book them. WHERE IS SASHA IN THE LINE-UP!!! |

Jay I honnestly think you have no clue what you're talking about
I usually don't tell you, but it's not the first I feel this way
Montreal is ready for this. US dollar is going up, an event like this would attract thousands of people from the states + overseas + obviously everywhere in Canada
Good marketing plan + TV / Radio / Newspapers push would sell the show
Deadmau5 sold 4 shows at Metropolis
LMFAO soldout Bell Center in a few minutes
SHM are doing Madison Square Garden in December
Skrillex soldout very fast aswell
And the rest of the lineup is filled with EDM legends and favorites
If Playground, Evenko, Piknik, Stereo, Circus, Guvernment and Bbcm get together and work hand in hand .... That kind of show can pull 50000 people
The only issue is the venue and I'm pretty sure it can be done aswell |

Personally here's my opinion.
I hate this 1:30 hour superstar DJ format where nobody has time to build anything, even less a cohesive sound between each other.
And actually i'm really pissed that big events are adopting this format.
That's why Bal en Blanc lost it soul. In this urgency to book too many DJs that pleases to all different crowds, you get a line-up that makes no fckn sense and a confused crowd.
It's a no brainer that any decent DJ does it's best work when he has the time to play fillers.
The reason why the scene was so big 10-15 years ago, is because it was movement of the people. Not DJs.
When 514 Productions was booking 2 headliners and 2-3 locals in 14 hours (and may I remind that some locals had some peak time spots) for 3 hours each, they had a bunch of pros that made music come together. The experience of sound was UNIQUE.
You didn't have to wait for a a DJ to come on stage, because it felt like the music was one big story. Then people came TOGETHER. Forgetting about the DJs. The music was the background soundtrack.
That's why people were going out. To be with each other. Not 15 different groups that came to see a 1:30 performance and didn't care for one another.
514 was branding a sound. Not ALL the sounds. One event had it's own personality.
Today you have Offer Nissim followed by Deadmau5 followed by Calderone ... it's a complete mind .
Honestly who wants to hear Laurent Garnier for only 1 hour at 11 am? What's the point?
That's why the new kids don't get it, that why the old ones are sticking to nights like Tenaglia's marathon sets or coming out when Digweed is booked for 4 hours.
I think this is a good format for live acts or performers that only has 1 or 2 solid hours to give. Like stage 1 and 5.
But I don't like this format for stage 2-3-4
It's like saying I will put Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, Will Smith, George Clooney and Vin Diesel and the same movie so I am sure to make 5 x 100,000 millions and the movie will be 5 x better. Doesn't work that way
Maybe it could work on a money level, but's it's a format about promoters that are obsessed with numbers and actually have very little vision or even passion for what they are selling. |
