Afterparties are kinda meh this year. However, the bar is usually set a lot higher for afterparties at DEMF, because the afterparty had better be good if the next day will suffer because of a hangover. The festival is just too good to miss.
I've heard of a Ben Klock + DVS-1 + tba afterparty on the Monday (unconfirmed), but in my 5 years of going to DEMF, I've never made a Monday afterparty because all my chips have been cashed by that point. :stongue: I would definitely go to that if it was on another day though.
I also wonder what the Old Miami line-up will be like this year. Hopefully it isn't too much Visionquest/Crosstown jockeying. However, if Matthew Dear is on the bill, I'm almost certainly there. He ing destroyed the place the last time he played there (much like he destroys the place almost every single other time I've seen him). |

Yeah, if anything I will check out the Richie's JAK party on Saturday. Sunday night play it easy and be ready for Monday morning. Said before, this year I'm paying attention to my twitter and get the Old Miami line up first so I know when to rush or hold back.
Friends want to go to the Dirtybird party, but I'm not a fan of Berts Warehouse, and really apprehensive about the demographic of ravenecks that will be in attendance. |

I am not impressed with them moving the stage for Beatport... They finally had it perfect again for the following reasons...
- Set back up sideways for the DJ to face the water
- Sideways set up allowed people to be up front, or chill back on the grass and all the way to the river for people who wanted some room or place to dance
- Sunset was in epic on that side looking over the overpass and Cobohall and over the river and bridge
- It was accessible, with the long stretch side ways, people could be across without being too far
- Last year they booth was nice and down low with the crowd, sucked for people trying watch what they were doing from behind, but great interaction with the crowd and was a huge hit with all the performers supposedly
- I may be biased here, but that stage right section at the back by the overpass where the walkway goes down to the boat/exit. That's the Windsor meeting spot, even lots of the TOTAs are lurking in that spot. I missed that spot two years ago when they first ed up the Beatport tent! :whip:
Now, why the Redbull stage will suck IMO, they'll probably do it lengthwise, long and narrow. I really hope they go shallow and wide like they had a few years ago with the back of the DJ booth against the river. I also think someone is going to die on that pyramid... not saying the Redbull kids are any more rambunctious or inebriated than the Beatport crowd, but the Beatport crowd is always a bit more special in that sense. I see kids off their rocker at the Redbull tent, but total zombies at Beatport. And, the Redbull stage is closed off, like cattle. River and railing tot he south, stage (probably) to the east, pyramid to the north and MAYBE depending, the sound stage and closed of to the west (depending on where the stage is set up). Although, i've never really seen people hang out back there behind the portopotties and food trucks.
Anyways....
Interesting that Redbull took over the mainbowl as the main sponsor, it was only a matter of time. And I'm interested to see what constitutes being a part of "Electric Forest"...
