Bud Light pres. SENSATION - The Ocean of White (June 1, 2013 Rogers Centre) (pg. 6)

@ Kotsy: SENSATION is a brand and all their shows have fixed guidelines in terms of setup, layout, intro show and shows between DJs for a given theme. The venues (stadiums) are picked witht his in mind. So "Ocean of White" in Korea is the same as in Amsterdam and the same as in Bangkok, etc. Just look up videos for the same show in different cities. The only thing that changes are the DJs and even then they have their favorites. Also, some of them are known for playing very similar sets from party to party ;) Therefore, yeah the production of this party will be equivalent to the Amsterdam's one.

And no, I don't think Bal en Blanc having 1/20th of the production is a stretch. Have you seen huge fountains of water at Bal en Blanc that squirt to the beat, or a curtain of water that spells out DJ names or creates patterns, or fireworks and pyrotechnics, or hundreds of big white lamps that can change colour and change height independently to create patterns, or a DJ booth in the shape of a giant lotus flower that rotates, etc, etc and all of this in addition to lasers and regular lighting :P

Who are you happydude? What affiliation do you have with Sensation?

there's a difference between demanding quality and bitching about something because it doesn't suit your taste. if music is what you expect from something like sensation then why bother even posting about it. the people who like it will go and then people who don't will stay home in the end.

Yeah for real, but the thing is is that even the music itself might not be crappy, based on last year's lineups for some of the cities.

So... what are the events about these days? The music? Or some light show?

Because I really don't care how many lasers and strobe lights and unicorns prancing around the stage, as long as the music is good and the sound is wicked.

Seems that there is way too much emphasis on the spectacle, and not enough about the quality of music.

There's nothing wrong with enhancing a music experience with visuals and stuff. Obviously the music is first, but if that's taken care of then the stuff Sensation brings could be cool along with it. Honestly some of you guys are jumping the gun on this one.

The haters and pathetically predictable elitism on these boards nowadays is sad.

+1.

These guys always complain about something. Previously it was the lack of festivals and big events and now finally starting last year we started getting them and they're now they're complaining about getting them.

I don't know if any of you have ever been to Sensation White in Amsterdam, but the level of production is second to none. It's like Cirque du Soleil but with Djs. Heavy focus on artistic expression & visuals. ID & T doesn't play around with their production. Look at the NYC & other shows.

This is a fair point, and I can honestly say I wouldn't mind going purely for that fact. That said, if I'm going to pay to see some spectacle, I'd rather just go to the Cirque du Soleil (except that I really don't have much desire to go to the Cirque du Soleil).

I'm thinking of doing both haha

Got my tickets for Jay Zed but still debating on Sensation. Hopefully they release a line up soon. Went to a Sensation White in Prague, it was unrealllll. Atmosphere was amazing, and probably the reason for going...
