| One thing i don't understand is how they treat chewie's wounds under all that hair without cutting it, he;ll def need stitches from them plasma blasters. |

| I would assume the wound would be cauterized. |

| We British would never do anything as crass as displaying emotions in a public fashion, so you never hear people cheer or applaud here. The only times I've heard applause at the end of a film have been screenings of cult classics - I saw The Thing on the big screen recently and it got a polite round of applause at the end. |

| Yeah, same here. If someone was to cheer or clap at a film, he'd be stared to death. |

I just sat there with a big stupid grin on my face, lol. Same when Han and Chewie turned up. |
I secretly touched myself then activated my penis pump when this happened. |

It could have been the pre-Christmas joy, but some people were cheering and fist pumping on the opening crawl, and some golf claps when Han and Chewy show up. It was definitely loudest at the end when Skywalker takes off the hood.
Probably my best experience since an OT marathon when The Phantom Meace came out. I can't believe people would be so reserved with like minded people. |

| Hmm...cultural differences I suppose. Not uncommon to see people cheering or applauding in theaters in the US. I've seen audiences clap at the end of Jurassic Park and even some humorous applauding after Batman and Robin lol. |

Went to see Batman & Robin when it first hit the theatre, and me and my buddies were being all loud and obnoxious for reasons I can't recall (no, booze wasn't involved). I don't know if we were cheering because we anticipated a bad film or a good film (!!), but we were hootin' & hollarin' during the opening credits, especially when Uma Thurman's name came up. At that point, the guy in front of us turned around and yelled "Shut the up!"
One of my friends' mother, who was with us, then scolded him right back. We were all pretty quiet after that. |

Come on people, don't you see that it's important for Kylo Ren to look like a fag bitch? He has to look detestable because he has detestable character. It is totally weak to give in to the dark side and, just like in real life, the kind of people that do are typical butthurt losers. I mean even Anakin Skywalker/Hayden Christensen looked like a ing girly assclown. Think about all the heads in real life who go shooting up schools and whatnot - all fag bitch looking motherers who were butthurt about some perceived wrongdoing or whatever.
Even the helmet and uniform - yeah it looks kinda badass with the Cobra Commander steez and all, but it's classic overcompensation by a guy who knows he's actually a .
Imo it wouldn't work if he looked all alpha and strong and/or handsome and likeable. Even his voice is kind of whack. He is a butthurt loser and he looks like one too. It's perfect.
edit: I couldn't help but think of JP from Grandma's Boy, lol. So good. |

| We know you get a hard-on from mocking losers Jenny, but most of us find it more entertaining when a story has a genuinely threatening villain. |

I knew that would be the response. I'm not defending it, just saying I think there is a clear point to the casting choice. I doubt he IS meant to be threatening - that seems to be acknowledged by the fact that he hasn't completed his training yet.
Who knows, all that "He still has light in him" might be foreshadowing something. |

Yeah I know, I said that earlier in the thread:
| quote: | | Clearly it was a deliberate decision to explore the angle of a flawed Darth Angst villain and I suppose it's more complex than a straight up badass, but it left the film without a genuinely threatening bad guy. |
I understand it was a deliberate decision, but I think it was one of many poor decisions by the film-makers. In fact, you hinted at it yourself: we already had the whiny bitch-ass adolescent Dark Sider in Anakin Skywalker, and it was ing rubbish. What we needed was another inscrutably evil galactic samurai who thinks nothing of flying his whole fleet straight into an asteroid field to hunt down the heroes, or choking his own admirals to death simply for executing a poor piece of orbital parking. |
