Blacked out spoilers:
More generally, it just felt like all the work of the original trilogy was for nothing. All Luke Skywalker has to do is bugger off for a sabbatical and a new Empire springs up, a new Darth Vader and a new shadowy Emperor. And now they've got to do it all again. |
Isn't the whole reason Luke went off on sabbatical the reason the new Empire was able to succeed, it's because of Kylo and his turn to the dark side...crushed Luke and helped the bad guys!
^^Spoilers.
But I never realized this before, but that Rey is smoking hot. |

I wouldn't quote the blacked-out stuff - the black text stands out more on the background. Anyway:
Kylo Ren seems like a bit of a to me. He's not even completed his training. Obviously this Snoke geezer has a larger role to play, but the next film has a hell of a lot of heavy lifting to do to justify the state of play, and I honestly don't think they're interested in doing that. There's a lot of stuff that happens in this film, on both a micro and macro level, that relies on the audience unquestioningly accepting what they see under the banner of "Oh, it's only a movie!" |

Got my ticket to watch it in 3D this weekend. Most of the showings in my area are either all sold out still or the remaining seats in the room are crap, too close or in the corners. But I suppose I can wait it out til after Christmas, and try to avoid spoilers.
And while I do hope the story's good, it's bound to be an experience anyway getting to see my first Star Wars in 3D. Yes.... |

| Just got back from this. I enjoyed myself, and that's the main thing. But, as stated above, they got some 'splainin' to do in the next film. Great job by the new leads, btw. |

Same with 'blacking out' on the off color row :wtf: I forget what color that row is.
I agree, Kylo is a !

As a fanboy I loved it. My objective side hopes they pander less in the next two.
EDIT:
I could be absolutely wrong, but I feel like they had to bring back the base of fans that got pissed about episodes I, II and II by repeating a lot of what was good about IV, V and VI and now that they've done that maybe the big surprises are still to come.

I just got back from it now. While I certainly agree with a number of the issues already raised in this thread... I massively enjoyed it.

Spoiler alert:
I think the reason Ren's lightsaber was so wack and it made weird sounds was because that n00b probably built it himself and didn't know what he was doing. |

Alex, covered earlier in the thread, and those were my thoughts too.
When do we stop with the no spoilers thing here? I don't want to ruin it for anyone. Consensus? I can edit the title of the thread to include a warning. Or too soon? |

It was covered? Oops. Didn't read the whole thread because I didn't want to stumble onto anything before I saw the beast.
Sucks we gotta wait like a billion parsecs for the next one. |

Sorry sorry, it wasn't "covered" covered, just Mr Mystery brought it up earlier in the thread. And that works for me, given how the film went.
The difference in light-sabers was notable. |

| Well, it wasn't addressed in the film in any way, that was just my theory. Would certainly make sense, though. |
