It's a sad state of affairs. This isn't my first account on this site; I'd forgotten my old username so I've really been around for some years. I really think the idea and intention of TA is good and there have been some very cool people on the site (I remember you gave me feedback on my music a few years ago actually) but a few bad apples spoil the bunch as the saying goes, which is a shame because this is one of the few sites left like this.

You might want to check out the Discogs forums. Plenty of people with various knowledge and taste in music, and far more mature.

Yeah, wait. Where do you see me hurling epithets at you except for calling you out on your own arrogance, when you consistently attack others for theirs? Okay, then.

I'd still like to see your explanation about the Minneapolis statement.

I must have imagined you calling me a "butthurt kid" and "ing keyboard warrior" in the previous two posts. Wait, wait - I've got a vision of the future. Why, it's the next AlphaStarred post! It reads "That's not an epithet, it's a simile." Well I'll be damned.

The Minneapolis statement has already been clearly explained to you by Kenny. Now, if you'd actually read the thread we are all talking and had an ounce of contextual information it'd all be perfectly clear.

Now. Tell me more about your fulfilled existence, that allows you to post with such zen-like calm and wisdom.

What do you expect me to say when you lash out at me like an enraged self-righteous prick, referring to my personal life out of context? So because I'm not in the best mental state, I shouldn't be calling you out for your ? One difference between us is that when/if I'm more stable, I don't bother to argue on the internet at all. What's your excuse?

Again, that wasn't the implication of your post. The implication was more like since he's from "Jerkwater" USA, he knows nothing and his taste must be .

It's not my fulfilled existence that allows me to do so, it's my observation of your consistent pattern of behavior. Like I said, it's no wonder you never post on Discogs.

As for that thread, I'm just saying that really doesn't do it for me; I find that particular genre to be very easy listening and I have seen DJs attempt to play it before and watched places clear out because of it whereas I see oldschool trance, funky house & hard techno don't have much trouble getting the place active. In my experience that genre just doesn't work if you're trying to spin at a dance club.

Woony lives in Berlin and seems to spend every weekend dancing to the world's finest roster of techno DJs. When you "spin at a dance club" you're talking about an event called Techno & Tacos. To think that your experience gives you the right to patiently explain to him why the tracks he buys won't make anyone dance, when he sees those kind of records make thousands of people dance every weekend, is spectacular arrogance born out of spectacular ignorance. And you can prattle on about how borders don't matter in music as much as you want. There's something called relevant life experience. You are sorely lacking.

So at best you're a complete hypocrite. At worst you're joining the long roster of people in this thread who like to chat about things they know nothing about. And real Internet hardmen post on Discogs. Glad we've cleared that up. You can go back to trying to source Iboga on the dark web now.

I always made it abundantly clear that I was speaking from my own experience. There's also a huge majority of DJs out there who mix but don't go out. You're expecting me to know what Woony does with his weekends and what his experiences are and that's unreasonable.
AlphaStarred
You talking about hypocrisy makes me smile. And yet again, there you go trying to get the last word in by taking out of context and talking about Iboga, of all things, to try and strike a nerve. I love it. Why don't you tell me how far, far more intelligent you are than me and that I know as much. I'm sure you can back it up.

You must be hard of reading. "Mature" people post on Discogs, unlike many of those here. Most of them grew up/have a life and left. What's your excuse?

Then we agree to disagree. Nothing wrong with having said acid/acid house was dead some years ago - because it was. Now it's not. Why do we have to be politically correct here? Compared to earlier years, trance has become much more of a niche genre (somewhat like acid, perhaps). You can't go out now in NYC and easily find a trance party, if at all, these days. Before you could. Hence, it's relatively dead.

We don't have to agree, that's totally okay, but it makes a lot of difference when you add a few words like you just did.
I'm still enjoying Uplifting, Melodic and Progressive which I think are very alive. Maybe not as they used to be but still alive.

It's pretty simple, isn't it? Your original post boiled down to the oldest Internet argument cliché: "You're a loser with no life for arguing online!" You've since liberally supplemented it with other time-honoured classics such as: "Ha! Look at how much you care! You're obsessed with getting the last word in!" Hell, you even used the phrase "keyboard warrior" without any irony.

(And please don't waste my time tediously re-phrasing all this to try and convince yourself it doesn't apply to you. That tactic hasn't worked once in all the times you've used it.)

Of course, you've massively undermined the thrust of your argument by getting clearly enraged and heated by someone else on the Internet, digging up moldy old posts and throwing insults after chiding me for doing the same. All of which is completely contrary to rising above such pettiness as someone who is actually mature or spiritually fulfilled would do.

But the key point is that if you're going to make a passive-aggressive stab at someone for not being "fulfilled" (AKA: having no life), you'd damned well better make sure you can't have the state of your own existence turned around on you. Because you just Went There first. You called someone else a loser. You implied some kind of calm wisdom that would allow you to dispense such judgement. And that makes it completely fair game to point out that you, AlphaStarred, are a complete ing loser who's spilled out the miserable guts of your wretched life onto this forum many, many times.

So suck it up, bitch.
AlphaStarred
If you read what I actually wrote, I called you immature - not unfulfilled. Spot the difference?

For someone who's supposedly mentally healthy and functions normally in everyday life, it's rather pathetic to see how you spend so much of your free time and do what you do here on a near-daily basis. Being mentally unwell and being a high-functional complete ing loser are two different things. You call schizophrenics complete losers because they are unable to function well due to the debilitating symptoms of their illness? Talk about ignorance. Grow the up.
