Maybe he was still pissed after his performance in MTL the night before. His CD skipped at one point, so he blamed the equipment and simply left after only playing for 2 hours instead of promised 3.5.
Too many gigs at once is NOT a good idea no matter how good a dj is ! |
Nah, it wasn't the equipment - it was you... :tongue3 |

I know it is a little late but been on vacation for a week right after Roxy. I have seen PvD over 20 times in over 3 years and many times at TWILO and I have to say this ranks as one of the best sets (not as good as July 2000 or April 2001) I have ever heard from PvD. I have been listening to PvD for so long because I love his style: he is an ELECTRONIC MUSIC DJ--which is why I love his sets. He is not a trance dj, a la Corsten. Anyone expecting to hear an uplifting set from PvD has the wrong expectations.
I was so glad that PvD played some unique, hard, dark tracks and breaks. He threw in some techno and house and of course banging as well as melodic trance. The set from 4-6 was outstanding. What versatility and ability!!!! I loved the fact that there was little fluff in this set. That has always been PvD's trademark--a set replete with tracks that encompass many genres of electronic music. I was very satisfied to hear a few good oldies--Rendevous, Born Slippy, Out there and Back--mixed in with fresh tracks. I dont want to hear Circ Destroy She Said and Circa Forever again. C'mon it is great when PvD is exposing us to great, new tracks. Look at his Radio Fritz sets. Sure trance may represent a plurality amongst these genres but they are all very well represented.
CHOOBAK, VISIONS OF PVD I completely agree and think this set was amazing. I feel sorry for those of you who could not appreciate it but if you have listened to PvD for years you would know that this was very typical of his long sets. And it is in these long sets where PvD pushes the boundaries of electronic music and really shows his skill as a dj and "composer". He loves to experiment here in NYC which is great. Cheers, Push |
