FERRY CORSTEN - INDIGO !!!!!
rest of the night, blah... |

I wasnt going to post my little review, but here goes:
First, it seems like theres only a few NY TA's who enjoy electronic music that ISNT melodic or "trance"...I enjoyed his set during 4-5:30; progressive, breakbeat...to me thats versatility...
I think last night was much better than February...no Inca, Solarcoaster, basically tunes that are standardized and played by every "trance" dj out there...again he showed his versatility..
Also, I especially enjoyed the fact that he threw down some of his great "unreleased" remixes such as Space Brothers-Everywhere I Go and Born Slippy, and even Happiness!! (ahh..the good ol' Twilo days)....could this be a sign that i will be featured on VDT2?..hmmmm
I think Luis Diaz played a great set, and Paul did a tremendous job with transitioning into his set...
Tune Highlights of the Night:
1. Paul van Dyk-Out There and Back
2. Space Brothers-Everywhere I Go
3. Aalto-Rush (Super 8 Remix)
4. Nu-NRG-The Kiss
5. The Thrillseekers-Synasthaesia (Pvd Mix)
6. Track "I KNOW YOU WANT ME" vocal (2X)
7. Madonna-Music (Unknown Mix)
8. Robert Miles-Children (14th Street Mix)?
9. Underworld-Born Slippy (Pvd Rework)
10. Kyau & Albert- Velvet Morning (Mirco de Govia Remix)
11. John Askew- Shadows of the Dark
Lastly, MADE events bounced back and proved they can handle a big crowd in a orderly manner...
Its not seeing some of the TA's: Highmay, Tae, KidNyce, NY1004
In a scale from 1-10, Paul and his set last night gets an 8.0 ;) |

| Well whatever anyone thought.... It was nice for ME, to hear him drop Underworlds Born Slippy....I've been to lots of his shows, and this was a first for me. Made an average night, into a good one.... |

I couldnt agree more! I cant believe these people were at the same show as I was.. I thought it was one of the best ones he's played in a while. He played some badass that I've never heard, and played everything I wanted to hear: That new remix of Nothing but you, Suzanne, affinity.. and even played children and born slippy! how could you say that was a bad show. i wish he didnt play clocks, because the show was original, and when I was going to roxy that night i was hoping to not hear some normal dj set playing all the usuals, and thats what I got

i don't know what you people are all complaining about... that was one of the best PvD sets I've heard... after last weeks fluff at Ferry I needed something hard and PvD delivered...
a full review... let's see... Roxy and Made really got it together this time... I got there at about 11:30 and much to my surprise there were two lines... for ticket holders and non... Saw Daniela, Brianna, and Tom on line and joined them.. thanks guys... was inside within 5 minutes ... The place wasn't too crowded... especially after about 4... by 6 the whole place was half empty... seems like a lot of people maybe weren't feeling the style and decided to leave but I thought it was awesome and there was damn good energy throughout the night... lots of hands in the air.. PvD was energetic too... jumping around waving his arms... all that stuff he loves doing when he's really into it...
the music, in my opinion, was awesome... so many big beats... forget all that uplifting fluff... he did breaks for a while.. it was awesome... R. File - Thinking into PvD - Nothing But You (Cirrus Mix) into some other breakbeat into Silencer's Rolling 'n' Controlling... Those songs destroyed me... what else did he play? Aircrash Bureau - Don`t Expect Me to Forget You(Antiloop Mix), Schatrax - Misspent Years (Silicon Soul Darkroom Dub), an awesome Iio - Rapture breakbeat remix, and PvD reworks... Underworld - Born Slippy (wow), Space Brothers - Everywhere I go, Sound De-zign - Happiness... and lots of PvD tracks... both old and new... including some stuff from the Zurdo soundtrack in the encore...
I know all of you would have liked to hear more of the regular uplifting pvd stuff, but I thought it was great he kept that stuff to a minimum... if you weren't there and you can handle a little divergence from the standard fluff that dominates this place, you would have had a great time.... |

Looks like a rather controversial set. In fact, I have detected increasing controversy about PvD over the last several months. Does PvD bashing all of a sudden become 'fshionable'? Well, I think Suneel got it right in saying

I am just off the phone with someone who attended and according to him the set was by all means comparable to his Miami set at Space. Having been to the latter one myself I can see that the fluffy trance lovers didn't like it. For my part, the Mimai set is in the top 3 of the 27 sets I have experienced live.
While I enjoyed Adam Beyer in Frankfurt immensely, I still feel like I missed out on a PvD playing to my liking :( |

Last time I saw him he ing owned...I think everyone is just tired of listening to the same songs over and over again :p . You guys are to used to all of his songs...hehehe..But then yet again maybe he is sucking :nervous: |
hey dear--
it's not that he was playing the same tunes over and over.. i believe that it was the fact that he wasn't playing the same tunes is the reason why people were like wtf? alot of people flip out when artists try out new territory... like tiesto for example, everyone's rippin on him bc he was playing techno and prog.. but he's been well djing trance for over 10 years now.. time to move the on.. maybe same thing with pvd or maybe he was just feeling a lil saucy... either way, I HAD A ING BLAST! and i'm a harsh critic so i will admit his flow was real weird at the least.. i enjoyed hearing the new tunage (second sun vs pvd new tune? and jan johnston new tracks!!) oh and i liked hearing all the new tunes, including his drumnbass tunes and really hard almost johnny-vicious-like-remix of madonna - music.. and the remix of children with that vocal that went "the way you got me going crazzzaayyy" (it's a tune on the radio, so hot..arturo, i left you that song as a voicemail when he played it.. ID!! :p )
oh yea and i have to add that i was the one who requested (on the paper towel from the girl's room, thank you very much) Born Slippy. :toothless
Andreas: he played synaesthesia; i was thinking of you!!
Danny/Decibel requested synaesthesia (haha, written in german on his cell)..well i'll let danny tell you the rest :) |

Maybe he was still pissed after his performance in MTL the night before. His CD skipped at one point, so he blamed the equipment and simply left after only playing for 2 hours instead of promised 3.5.
Too many gigs at once is NOT a good idea no matter how good a dj is ! |
