What was the name of the last song PVD Spun? It was absolutely wicked, and a great way to bring the party to an end.
I thought this was one of Paul's best sets, uplifting all night long with non of those crappy filler tunes inbetween. Good to see him back to his best.
Cheers! |
howzit? r u from SA and if so whereabouts? i have trevelled all over SA and i love castle beer! (where can one order it?) i am not,(was going to move to pretoria centurion but things went wrong!) but i keep the SA flag b/c i left my heart there and i wonder when it will return...

the crowd there was mad weird.. not the usuals.. but i always find that roxy shows dont have that same energy.. you can never really get a clap going or peeveedee chant there.. at arc, it was quite the opposite=)

Andreas, I also LOVED the space set. it was off the hook. I don't feel that last night was anything like this. I have been pondering this today..and I think it's all due to lack of energy. I loved his tracklisting and there were so many tunes that just floored me. Hydra-Affinity is one of my favs...
Anyway, the CROWD was different. While everyone was nice and cool there wasn't the hardcore pvd energy I usually see. There wasn't the crazy PEE-VEE-DEE chanting and bugging out. Perhaps that is just what I missed and it's not a reflection on PvD obviously. Sometimes your own personal experiences can color a night and change your views completely...looking back I think that I would have enjoyed PvD's set much more in a different setting.
Regardless, I was thrilled to hear some new tracks and I liked the breaks.
(aside) why in hell did i think i heard Punk?! |

Hm, interesting how you say it wasn't like the MIami set at all while my other friend (it was Ruben, btw). I guess it proves your other point about how your own predisposition at a given night can completely change your perception of a set. I followed similar trains of thought after the February show at Roxy but never really put it into words like you did.
And yeah, I can see how a lack of a pee-vee-dee chanting crowd can make a difference, too. Could that be the reason (or at least part of the reason) for the perceived lack of energy in the set as well?
Anyway, from reading all the comments and the tracklists still think I would have liked it a lot. |

Well yeah, the Arc show was really special. But I thought the November Roxy show was close to that, too. February went downhill in that regard.
As for saying "roxy shows dont have that same energy..": geez, this was only the 3rd Roxy show, so it might be a little early to genralize like that just yet. |

| maybe thats why so many love PvD. Is that he caters to a little (or a lot) to many of us. That his mix of style and taste in music, relates many of us. If he played all the same uplifting trancey tunes, he'd only be singling out a certain group of us. But for the fact that he does mix up his sets (and at the same time has his "staple" tunes) is why he has such a large and loyal following. Its as if he stays true to his love of this music, and brings us along with him. Constantly changing, and evolving. |
