What was the name of the last song PVD Spun? It was absolutely wicked, and a great way to bring the party to an end.

I thought this was one of Paul's best sets, uplifting all night long with non of those crappy filler tunes inbetween. Good to see him back to his best.

Cheers!

i think visionsofpvd has a solid point- it seems u guys bash anything that is not the kind of "trance" you like.... well maybe now pvd's attempt to not be labelled a trance dj will have some meaning. i am always interested in sets that go in new directions. but, i agree that the flow of the set was STRANGE! not to see that he didnt keep it going.... the mixing was great. but he didnt want to get into that pvd trance anthem mode even for the last two hours (like he did in feb). not to say that we didnt hear great trance, it just wasnt consistently trance, one out of three songs was usually spanking hard as opposed to melodic. his 4-530 change of pace was cool, yet different as hell from normal cause it wasnt just prog or techy and hard, he went housey and chilled out after an hour or so. overall, the set was great.

i agree with overseas that club space at miami was an incredible incredible incredible pvd set.... this was not on that level. it was funny he seemed to make this face and motion to the (lighting?) guy next to him saying "they won't dance".... i think everyone there last night was more tired than usual... i was beat by 4 am... stuck it through but couldnt dance very much so i just moved as much as i could and screamed a lot haha.

a good night overall, interesting and different.... agreed that it was random in ways, but still nothing less than quality --- sorry for those that found it sucked, i think visonofpvd's point might have something to do with that?
and those of you worried about him sucking when u go see him..... nah, pvd is always off the hook. and any set less than a 6 hr set in ny or miami is banging trance much more of the time. the whole point of the six hour set is to let him take you on a journey based on what he's feeling at the moment.

i thought roxy's phazon sounded better now, more mids. no smoking blows. i did it anyway. and i smelled a lot of greens too. always a tease ;)

He then started playing the noise I don't like, and an hour later built it back up, but then brought it down and let the record play to the end. With 30 minutes left to go he started his Nu-Nrg encore but closed the encore with some slow piece of song WTF!! He never played Nu-Nrg - The Kiss (I was waiting for this the entire night) That encore song that nobody knew was (Basic Dawn) - Pure Thrust (Nu-Nrg Remix)

I had a great time partying with everyone. The dinner was a flop because only 7 people showed up. And no, PVD did not play Punk. Time for bed :eyespop:

wow Im really suprised by all the lukewarm and negative reviews. I thought that last night's set was the best ive ever heard Paul spin, out of the 12 or so times Ive seen him. Perfect mix of uplifting and banging, in that unique style that only PvD can pull off. I definitely had a blast... great seeing Caryn, Daniela, Brianna, Scott and everyone else. Everything seemed so easy as well, such as ZERO people in line when I arrived at 2:15 and a comfortable amount of room to dance all night. Come on guys, he spun OUT THERE AND BACK!

Wow I thought I had some idea and I THOUGHT I was there last night, but apparently, not so. Thanks for clearing this up.
dj tek
u know, he's being innovative, being versatile and all that, its all good BUT u need to do that with energy.. and his set last night was
lacking energy thruout the night. and this can happen by poor arrangement or/and poor mixing.. his mixing was solid as usual except this one transition when the beats didnt match for 2 secs then he fixed it nicely(thats what differnciates pros and amatures) but the arrangement of tracks didnt take you anywhere.. its like he was playing banging stuff, but it didnt live up to the track's full potential.. i dunno i honestly think he can introduce us to soooo many tracks he hasnt played before or the ones that he hasnt played for a long time and retire 'club attack' 'i feel you'... even the new single 'nothing but you' coming out twice last night sounded stale since he's been slammin this since mid last year...it was good to hear some tracks we werent used to ie: children, the 'nobody listens to techno' remix, the madonna 'music' remix[ian, hook it up?] was cool but personally not much diggin those tracks.. my 'track' of the night was def. 'indigo' since pvd never plays/played this[well to my knowledge] being on the center of the dance floor while during indigo's break down to climax was an awesome feeling:) best part of the night was partying with the tas' which is always fun cuz it adds more positive energy & vibe to your night... no complaints here.. cant be too critical about a dj's performance, if u judge every little on what the dj did wrong, your not gonna fully enjoy yourself and why would you want that to happen..lol it wasnt one of pvd's best sets but its not like it ruined my night or anthing..lol i had a blast regardless:) Oh, and Alex, THANK YOU SO IN MUCH !!!;) peace to all the tranceaddict representers outhere, you kno who you are:)

and you think the new smoking law rules? go back to atlanta loser, in douchE bag

Do you still feel this way, hours later? He WAS different, but was he BAD? I don't think so, I think that change is just scary and weird at first. We all have our own unique taste in music and I can fully understand people being disappointed last night, ESPECIALLY if they had expectations coming in.

If you step away, look at the tracklisting and think about the set by itself, without comparing it to others, is it still so terrible? Terrible enough to say pvd SUCKS?

D00d, by the way, it was great to meet you and I am NOT bashing you. I am guilty of expressing the same type of opinions when I first left Roxy and even still when I got home. I only post this because I thought maybe I wasn't the only one who needed to let things sink in before I concluded the night was a dud. I forced myself to separate PvD's set from everything else.

As for the smoking, I miss smoking too and it's still too cold to go outside but it I don't miss the reeking clothes and dirty air. I wish they could have a sep room. Alex and I went to smoke and there was a damn LINE! I skipped the smokes last night.

--Just my two cents. I am sure you expected a few comments on your post. :o :p

i thought the diversity made this one of his better sets, but i agree with tek that it lacked that "journey" aspect we expect of pvd.

tru, the crowd didn't have it's usual energy... but some hardcore fans were dancing until the end... it's all about pacing urself since u kno the last couple hours are usually the best ;)

btw, nice meeting highmay and lil lizzy along with bri and liz at the signing. til next time!
Choobak
i thought there was good energy for all but about an hour between 4:30 and 5:30... it was actually surprising that there even was any energy at the end considering how empty it got...

what happened after he played Te Amo anyway??... it looked like he wanted to play one last thing but they turned on the lights... than he reached for his box and they turned them off again... but the lights came on again and he ended it...

about smoking... there were plenty of people lighting up around me.. not as many as before the law but still a lot considering it's "illegal"... maybe I shouldn't have stood next to the guys with the big pot leaf hats that were dealing and smoking everything imagineable... ;)

aright, i gotta say i had a great time at roxy. i didn't recognize many of the tracks in the first few hours, but whats the point of only hearing things you already know and might as well crank up at home ? im glad i heard lots of stuff i didn't recognize mixed with precise quality choices which i did know very well. the speed of the line was awesome, security was very nice all around - including helping getting things signed, and passing phones with text messages (including mine  ) up to paul. the man seemed pretty happy the whole time, bobbin and dancin in the booth and interacting with the people right below him etc. the tunes that made my night:
hydra - affinity
pvd vs tilt - rendesvous
thrillseekers - synaesthesia (pvd mix) <-- asked him at signing and via text messge for this ... got it !!
the still unidentified 'you know you want me' song
pvd - animacion
nu nrg - butterfly
marco v - i feel you (pvd remix)
pvd - another way (no one has mentioned, but he played toward the beginning)
aalto - rush
space brothers - everywhere i go (pvd rework)
etc..

VisionsofPVD
I can't be too critical about the "flow" of the set, since I've never had to arrange a 6 hour set....but here are a couple of points:

He played Aircrash Bureau-Dont Expect Me towards the end of the night, but in the past, he has always played it towards the beginning of his set...so i thought that was a true case of "dj'ing on the fly"

Also, I liked how he decided to group the Nu-NRg tracks together towards the end of the night: Butterfly--> Pure Thrust (NuNrg mix)--> Carrera 2 remix...that was pretty cool...BTW, I dont believe he played Dreamland...

Heres some speculation: I believe the now famous "I know you want me" tune may be a new Second Sun track...we'll keep each other posted as usual...
