ALL the GU compliations are mixed by Pro Tools THATS why they are flawless.FYI Nick Warren is not 1 of the greatest mixers. I've seen him live.

I have to yet to read a post why Oakenfold is so great.

mind expanding upon that?

Im not dissing tiesto in anyway, but if it wasnt for pioneers like oakenfold who were spinning in the early nineties, most of us would even know what trance is or even have been introduced to the genre of music anyway. Most people i know in the US had no clue about trance untill oakenfold came out with those classic essential mixes in 97 - 99. All im saying Tiesto wouldnt be that big if oakenfold hadnt set the precendce and attracted so much attention to this genre.

i really dont understand, oakey started in 89, he started the whole dance scene in england, not on his own, but he was one of the founders. Maybe he has lost his original flair, and maybe he has changed, but he can still fill a dance floor, if he coudnt he would not be one of the highest payed, if not they highest payed dj.

Dj Tiesto is a top DJ, and all he is doing is developing a differnet path, all this means is that we get more choice, so more people can get into the dance scene. More choice is good.

Really they dont need to be played off against each other, just enjoy the music.

I dont worry about who is better, if i like what they are playing, and it gives me the feeling inside that i cant describe, then i like them, end of story. Follow the music. Trance is music, it is made better by who places it, but they only play other peoples music, and occasionally theres, so the descussion should b who has the best choice of music

i think oakie should get some credit as he did go head on into the world of dance music before it was as big as it is now. Nowadays your full of bedroom-room-banging dj's (i'm one of them) who can dream of being oakie, tiesto, pvd, whoever.

back when oakie started, he just loved the music

No, i like oakey, people say he has changed, i am not sure he has, just people dont like how big he is. Good luck to him

If im correct i think Oakie also spun some Jungle and DnB...back in his carreer i have a set that oakie spun almost entirely Jungle..... it was hard for me to beleive Oakenfold playing Jungle..WTF wow crazy i think its a fairly old set .....

i was having this discussion with a few friends tonite on how oakie has changed. he used to be these heavenly melodies, female singing in the backround, the occasional piano courd.

now he is percussion and distorted lyriks. is he ahead of everyone, or is he taking a different path. no way to know.
but his style definatly has changed.

He's actually behind, he's just trying to jump on the progressive bandwagon that everyone has become ridiculously popular (for some reason) in the last year or so.
