Well concerning mixing skills I think PAUL OAKENFOLD kick Dj Tiesto ass. And as far as "chossing skills" I think Dj Tiesto kicks Oakenfold ass. But tell me...
WHY DOES PAUL OAKENFOLD PLAY COMMERCIAL MUSIC ???.
I think he is woaking up and he will be once again the BEST DJ.
And for all you guys that say that Sasha kicks Paul Oakenfold ass, I am not with people. Their mixing skills are equal & similar, but if I had to talk about the tunes they choose you know which would kick other ass. |

| umm, why are you saying oakie is commercial? thats a bit weird... and one more thing, why is tiesto overrated?!! people please, just becuase he is famous, doesnt mean he is overrated!! if you were around years ago to hear him play live, you'd know why everyone votes for him... as for PvD, whats so special about him? is it just me, or do his sets seem so disorganized?! tiesto takes u on a trip, for real, he starts you off and brings you back down so insanely it can't be described!! it has to be heard live! as for PvD, he just throws some floor filler tracks together and you all think he is god! hence, the conclusion, oakie's time has passed, tiesto's has come! |

well since i was there I'm gonna tell you guys my review of oakie, cox, and the orb. I'd review moby but for some stupid reason they had oakie and moby playing at the same time in two diff places.
Cox was all about the beats. but he didn't have that melowed out just thump thump. each record he picked was quick, moved the crowd, and had something to it. the entire tent was jumping up and down. and the best part was seeing the huge carl cox jumping up and down with a giant grin on his face waving his arms. you could tell he loved it.
the orb was up next. i'm not sure if theyre the same as orbital. i liked orbitals stuff way back. but godamn the orb's guitarist looked like he was on heroin. he was pouring sweat, had the grimmest look on his face. overall they were way to mellow for my liking.
next up, oakie. and i gotta say i was beyong pissed off when the kids next to me were screaming how much they loved oakie. then when some guy in a cowboy hat came on (d:fuse maybie, but i think dfuse has a bigger build, this kid was very skinny, and looked NOTHING like oakienfold) stage to help set stuff up. all the kids starting screaming and trying to wave to who they thought was oakie. i hate it when someone has a big name, the damn groupies don't care who or what they do, they pretend to love them.
anyway oakie started off with some nice molodic tracks, ofcourse they were old as hell and i knew them all. but it was still nice. then he started going into repetative beats. the beats were all taken from songs with good melodies. so i sat there embracing when they would start. it got to the point where i heard all the melodies in my head, but the fact that they werent playing were getting on my nerves. the only cool part was he had some custom visuals, of a hot girl in leather floating around, with a perfecto symbol on her neck. then to end it off.. oakie brought back some melodies and vocals, but ALL old old old stuff.. i felt like it was the early 90s.
i was very dissapointed, especially after picking up a new record he released on muse. the song was "nuborn". check it out. its a lulabye that captures the eereness not heard since real nightmare. after that record i was psyched that oakie had some sick new songs lined up. but all i found were repeats that i knew in and out. |

| yeh tiesto sucks. he cant mix worth . plays same tracks over and over like oakey but oakey still kicks his ass. Pvd kicks everyones ass. PVD is the LORD FOR TRANCE MUSIC! |

| wtf? who says tiesto does not have mixing skills? are u nuts... come on please.. just because u do not like someone does not mean their skills are weak. not only does tiesto make some beautiful mixes he does it all while singing along, dancing behind the tables and vibing out to the crowd. im sorry but when i go to hear a dj i dont go to scrutinize their mixes.. id much rather here songs i love and average mixing(which tiesto is above average to me) than some flawless mixes to a bunch of tracks id rather not hear.. and i hope oakie has his mixes down to a artform cause with the tracks he plays hes had years to work on em. and lets not get started on productions.... |

i don't like pvd's music. and i don't listen to his mixes.
so i cannot judge on it. but all i know is you have no right to critisize tiesto. he mixes in his own style, maybie u think that means hes a bad mixer. he has amazing tracks, and mixes so that the song never comes down.
and yah oakie does have his mixing down flat. he spent 80% of the time waving and signing tshirts. i guess thats what happens when you mix the same songs over and over. maybie he should just play recordings and run around in the crowd shaking hands? i'd probly of liked that better |

| man its the same with oakenfold! oakenfold does move with the crowd man! he doesnt just stand there and look! OAKENFOLD IS THE BEST MIXER/MIXING SKILLS OUT THERE! I THINK HE CAN MIX BETTER THEN PVD. BUT PvD is awesome. i love how he plays music. its soounds so much better if tiesto played it. PvD is a whole new story man! hes the best and 2nd best producer to 1st Tiesto. I think tiesto can producer like crazy but sucks at djing! |

Well, whoever keeps saying that Oakenfold is still a "trance DJ" makes me laugh... trance isn't what it used to be. It's much faster now, and more exciting. Many of Oakenfold's mixes are slow and contain "broken grooves," long pauses in songs, and I hate that. I also hate his "Tranceport," it's too slow and boring for me.
DJ Tiesto is pretty good, although I have to admit that sometimes his mixing is not so exceptional. Personally, however, I value track selection more than mixing. What I like about Tiesto, and hate about Oakenfold, is exactly this issue. Tiesto's sets are more energetic and more suitable for the dancefloor. Oakenfold tries to experiment, overreaches, and falls flat.
By the way, why exactly is Oakenfold so famous, and some other DJ's aren't? What's so exceptional about his mixing, that he's titled "the Trance God"? Give me a few good reasons why so many people love him -- and don't tell me it's because of "Tranceport," because anybody could have come up with a mix like that, perhaps even a better one! And yet, there are many young talented DJ's, certainly more talented than Oakenfold, who struggle to be hired anywhere, including maybe even at your local clubs, -- yet they will never achieve this stardom! What is this, pure luck??? |

| download any live set from oakenfold from the past year! they are perfect mixing! u dont see him mess up at all. thats what u call mixing. for energy i will go for PVD. that dude knows how to move a crowd. just admit it. pvd is better! |
