i just read a review of area one in the times.
it praised oakenfold as having allot of originality and guts because he would occasionally take out the base and then drop it back in.
WHO WRITES THIS ? |

Oakenfold and tiesto spin two completely different kinds of trance for the most part, so it is unfair to compare them as dj's. Sure the crowd will go nuts to tiesto, cause of the music, it's more high energy, therefore more crowd involvement. Tiesto is very very hurting in the mixing department, technically, not artistically. His mixing is rarely tight, and usually leaves much to be desired. Same can be said with van Dyk, however he is a little better. Oakenfold cleans up in the mixing department, but remember, his style is a good 12-15 bpm slower on average.
I like each for their own talents, no comparison is needed.
My experience with live performances would lead me to choose pvd as my favorite performer, but not based upon his recent performances, this year he is spinning garbage floor fillers, with no type of set development whatsoever. Tiesto and oakenfold both need a little variety though.

I have seen Oakenjoke, Tiesto & Pvd live. Anyone who believes that Oakie is a better DJ or has betta skills than them is clueless. I don't care bout how Oakie used to be or what he was in the past. We are talking about NOW! He's a sell out, he's commerical. He's all bout the $$$$! He has the biggest name as a DJ. He plays the same tunes at every gig...old tunes. Opening every set w/Lost.com- Animal everywhere is unacceptable. He doesn't play longer than 2 hours & he charges 23,000. Tix are always so expensive for his shows. His mixing is sub par....train wrecking galore. He's washed up, a has been. He's living off his name & Perfecto.
A lot of ppl told me Oakie was BORING at Area 1. He's not passionate bout the muzik..its ALL about the fame, fortune of being a superstar DJ. If U enjoy his sets, so be it, but at least realize PVD & Tiesto are both in a league of their own. Paul & Tiesto are passionate about the muzik. |

The first time I saw Tiesto was when he first came to Toronto at Wintergalactic 2K, and it was and will forever be the greatest night of my life! I was dancing like I've never danced before, tears streaming down my face, and I'd stop to get myself in order cause I didn't want anybody to see me, but when I looked around, everysingle person around me was crying as well! I'[ve never experienced something like this EVER! AND I was sober mind you! I think that ANY cd from the Magik series is better than Tranceport, Tiesto kicks Oakie's anyday, and I think Tiesto is better or at least equal to PVD, but there is NO WAY that PVD surpasses Tiesto! TIESTO IS THE GOD OF TRANCE! |

The first one of course! Tiesto played the best set I've ever heard! The last one was good, but it was NOTHING compared to the first Wintergalactic! Anybody who was there will agree! |

| thats a lie! oakenfold isnt for the money! man PVD charges over 40grand and so does tiesto! what are you talking about!!!! those people are for the money! and the reason the tickets for oakenfold shows are high, its because of the promoters. they want money too u konw! so they jack up the prices! |

..and do you know for a fact that PVD and Tiesto charge that much all of the time? How much does Oakenfold charge? Did you see Oakenfold on MTV? hmmm... |

| yeh i saw him at MTV. what about BT hes with NSYNC. alright then! i think its better for the music. i hate people when they ask me what kind of music are you listen to "TECHNO". Now people know what trance is. i think it was worth it. Then again why do u guys say he BORING? i dont think hes boring at all. He plays so man gigs its not even funny. hes booked up the ass so is tiesto and pvd. i dont understand why people say he sucks. its not his fault. and plus he moves with the crowd and hypes them up too. and your talking about how much money he makes right? Look at tiesto and pvd. They sell more cds then he does! and then you guys complain that he sucks?? Hell No. He doing the same thing that he did in UK in the late 80's to the untied states. He is trying to break dance music into the US and then you guys complain cause hes doing that. Well thats what i think. Look Oakey isnt my fav. dj. PVD is! |
