I would choose Tiesto over Oakenfold any day. Listen to magik 5 or 6 to understand. Also his live set at energy 2000 is ing awesome.
Anyways, a guy to look out for is Marco V. I've partied with him as a dj several times, and damn this guy moves the floor:D At the moment he is my favorite dj no doubt. I think that for some djs u have to be there to judge them..

Peace
Eugene
Fatboy, I hope you're not Slim? :)

you lot must have paul live so why do you all dought him? he plays with your emotions like nobody else can, when he plays gatecrasher and godskitchen in england most of the crowd have started to cry half way through his sets, trust me ive been there. Paul is deffinately GOD

I wish so many people wouldn't pick sides, and just "enjoy" all the DJ's... everyone is so harsh and quick to be judgemental. Most of the TAs haven't had the opportunity to see all 3 of these guys live. I have seen all 3 live, and to be totally honest, all 3 kick ass!

I honestly can't say any one of them are better than the others, but from watching what everyone's been saying, i feel obliged to defend Oakenfold b/c he always gets attacked.

Let me just say that all 6 times i've seen Oakenfold live (I live in Miami, yes he's been here more than 6 times actually...), his sets are downright awesome.... they don't really reflect the sets you download off the internet... (anyone who has seen him live should be able to support me on this one). In an entire set i will hear maybe 3 songs that i recognize. Now, PvD and Tiesto both play similar tracks as well. (As a DJ, i'm sure you can't play different songs EVERY SINGLE set.... you'd have to overlap at some point). Oakenfold plays a lot of white-label stuff that you never hear (and in some cases will never hear again). Bottom line - the sets always make you feel good. And yes, he wrecks sometimes. Nobody is perfect. Nobody.

A lot of people are forgetting too that Oakenfold has been a resident DJ at Cream, Home, Space, etc. for the last 5 years! Thats a LOT of sets, and i'm sure you play a LOT of records. For the longest time, he was the most popular DJ in the UK, and it wasn't from playing the same records people!

I don't think that Oakenfold is better than Tiesto or PvD. I just feel that he doesn't get any respect from the "newbie" trance lovers. I'm not knocking the new guys to trance, i welcome new people. I just think that you must pay respect where it is due. He has done a lot for trance and that is all.

PvD and Tiesto are the new(er) kids on the block. They are the new generation of DJ. Oakenfold is the dad, old school. Thats how it works. There is more than one DJ booth in the world, so i don't think we need to make accusations and point fingers and criticize.
I can almost guarantee that Oakenfold isn't going to be what he used to... he's already been in the game for so long. But you can bet your vinyl that he was as good as PvD and Tiesto are when he was "fresh"...

And yes, Oakenfold does smile and wave at the crowd and sign autographs while spinning... (i've also seen him dance with girls too), but don't you think that looks good to the new club-goer? the newbie to trance? I just can't see anything wrong with it.

Hopefully this will open some eyes, thats all...

ive seen both tiesto and oakey and i know that tiesto set off the crowd much better than oakey
tiesto even cared for his fans he was signing autographs all through his set and he was shaking peoples hands and after his set he stayed around to talk to people i even got pics with him
oakey walked off stage after his set
amit
oakey isnt an ! i dont think any dj is a ass hole!

hey man i saw PVD in the Warehouse in Toronto he was so into the crowd it wasnt funny at the start of every beat after a breakdown he would smile and throw his hands down when the beat kicked in he knew his records like the back of his hand, and i dont think his fist ever stopped pumping to the beat, he was a pure crowd dj unlike any ive ever seen(never seen Tiesto =( but just because he wasnt happy playing wherever u saw him doesnt mean he's the same everywhere else.
I was also able to get my 45 rpm album signed by him hes a true dj god.

PVD FOREVER

Well, I heavent seen Tiesto spinn live but do have some of his livesets, as of Oakey, when I saw him he did a very good set, with some kind of breakbeats at the beggining, wich surprised me , it was all calmed down, but when he got into the trance .. it all exploded.. they are different DJ's Id say, in Skills, Id say Oakey, in Tracklisting and crowd reading minds .. is Tiesto.. well both read the crowd. Tiesto is where the energy is at though.
