hehe..We know that pvd is your favorite, don't worry. ;) I don't think it's as if anyone thinks that Oakenfold "sucks," but that they prefer either Tiesto, pvd, or some other DJ. Some people go to see oakenfold and see him trainwreck a few mixes, while another person watches him spin a perfect set...the same goes with all DJs.
Everyone has had experiences that has ended up in them naming someone their "favorite" dj and a few that they don't listen to and/or like for various reasons. |

| yeh i think that is true! i think oakenfold is a good dj! May be he touched my soul or something. Or may be he pointed at me 2 times and waved at me. Or maybe he signed my shirt. Its like a show that you put on for your fans. Oh yeh its basically a rap concert cause you konw what they gonna sing but your there cause u wanna see him live. thats what i mean! Hes not a sell out nor does he suck as a dj. I never heard him mess up on a set. its seems so damn smooth. i have heard PVD mess up but that doesnt mean he sucks or anything. its all about the show that you put up! thats what i think! :) Plus Oakenfold got me into trance music in the first place. if it werent for him i would be listening to something else. And i am telling you this for a fact. i thought when oakenfold spun on MTV i saw many kids accepting trance music. Its so much easier for me in the school parking lot. i can play some trance and some kids know what it is. so it was done for the good of trance. and now on the radio i sometimes hear some trance music which i think is shocking to me! well this is what think about how oakenfold has done to the american community. |

| before i used to really love oakey...i have all of his essential mixes and at that time i thought he was the best dj around...but over the last year or so, tiesto i think is the #1 dj out there now... |

First of all I ask since when does the wideness of your smile or the height of your jump determine your abilities to move a crowd or mix a set. Where is the logic? If you have seen PvD, Digweed, Sasha there are times when they will smile and times when they are concentrating on the aforementioned skills. It is ridiculous to say PvD (or whoever)didnt smile blah blah. Perhaps he/she didnt smile as much as you wanted. Sorry. It is great when they smile and all that but I am there to dance, have a good time and enjoy the music. Dont doubt their love for their work, please (except Oakey).
Second Tiesto is definitely better than Oakey but has not yet reached Van Dyk's level. PvD toys with your emotions, makes you cry, and then has you dancing your ing ass off right after that playing a variety of trance, techno, house etc...Tiesto's track selection and djing skills are just not as good. Give me something new and some variety. Tiesto, after a while, bores me as I listen to the same thing over and over. Maybe I need my mind-altered more?
I went to Area One last night and Carl Cox was brilliant. Meanwhile Oakey bored me to death. I dont know who said his mixing skills are so great etc...cause he cant mix for . I thought he was playing cd's. His track selection is subpar as well. You could see the difference in the crowd during Oakey's and Carl Cox's set. Cox was banging. Unfortunatey Oakey has a big name that isnt deserved anymore and slowly people will come to that realization--as soon as they have heard the more than handful of dj's superior to him. I dont want to get into all that cause I will post up a review of my Area One experience.
PvD is the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

thats the same night as me man.
i came in the tent when cox was going, the place was going nuts.
then oakie, people were swaying and stuff. but it was the tne same.
im talking to amit he says that the set he did fri was all trance vocal and amazing. i wish we were there!!!!!! |

| Amit, U sound like a newbie. Very Weak Pointless arguments man. Oakenjoke was named the most successful DJ b/c of how much loot he gets. He gets a lot of gig b/c of his name. It's a FACT that he charges 23 G's for a 2 hour set. He doesn't play longer than 2 hours ever. Big deal he pointed at U...he does that someone every time. He's a joke. |

Funny that you should mention that, I wasn't gonna bring it up, but I have heard from people who are 'friends' with Oakie that sometimes he DOES play cds at parties! He mixes his sets on a computer first, burns it to disc, n plays a in cd! If ever you see Oakie n his dj booth is too far for you to see what he's doin, well..assume the worst! But remember, these ARE rumors, you don't have to believe it! All I know is once I've seen Oakenfold and his 'record' skipped suspiciously similar to the way a cd would! I know what a vinyl sounds like when it skips! Well in conclusion, this COULD explain Oakie's 'perfect' mixing! |

well when i saw oakie.
he only put headphones on for about 15-20 seconds to
beatmatch and cue up the record. i dont even think he used them to drop the record in. i personally can't beat match that fast. i like to let the record play for a min to make sure my matching is right on. but he may just be amazing at it.
and another odd thing. every record he grabbed had no labels on it.
but i guess he does get sent every promo made. |

for all you guys who keep posting that PvD is the best trance dj out there.
i remember reading an interview with him, where he explained that it annoys him when people call his music trance, as he considers it.. i forgot what he called it. but anyway PvD himself said he isnt a trance dj.
im not saying he is or he isnt,

u sound like a buncha kids on the playground talkin trash. do u honestly think ANY of this is founded?
"Oakie trainwrecks all the time" - obviously he doesn't "all the time", or else he'd never get a gig. and obviously he trainwrecks sometimes, EVERY DJ trainwrecks...
"Oakie plays CD's and not records" - this is quite possibly the STUPIDEST statement ive ever heard. Swamper, where do you find these TAs????? i shouldnt even have to explain this one
"Oakie plays the same music every set" - this is definitely a hypocritical statement. EVERY DJ plays similar records EVERY SET. Ever hear a PvD set? Picotto set? Marco V set? even a Tiesto set. All DJ's reuse some records, b/c the records are popular with the crowd, or b/c the records were made BY THE DJ (or his label). Who cares if Oakie starts out with a certain song in 6 sets you can download off the internet. Do you know how many sets this guy has done in his life??? 5-6 sets isn't going to hurt. picotto starts every set with the same song, but no one seems to notice or care. if everyone simply opened up their eyes to the tracklistings of sets pvd and tiesto do, instead of being so one-sided favoritism, then u guys would see this!!!
and my favorite: "Oakie is just riding on his name" or "Oakie is just using his name". well, tranceGeniuses, how the hell do you think oakie GOT the name?
oh wait. I know:

"oakie is an in person" - everyone is going to say something different. im sure after ever set every dj does, depending on his mood, hell either be a dick or be cool. ive heard about tiesto being a dick, and pvd. on the other hand, some ppl say pvd is really nice, tiesto is really nice, and oakie is very nice. b/c they can ALL either be nice or mean on any given night. depends on their mood. let me ask you something... do YOU ever get mad? so b/c these guys are DJs, does that mean they have no right to get mad or have a bad day??
"pvd never smiles" - i have seen him smile myself, but honestly who cares? as long as the music is good. i dont go to an event to see a guy with headphones smile. he spins great music, and that is that. maybe he is concentrating on mixing ppl so leave him alone.
u ppl should really grow up on some of these statements.
i know im making an enemy of a LOT of ppl by saying these statements, but somebody has to say something, b/c its getting outta hand.
i dont think oakie, pvd, or tiesto are better than one another. they are all good and spin different kinds of trance in my opinion. besides, they all have their own fans who go to their shows.
