I was hoping they were going to go forward with that trade to get Olaf Kolzig....
but that was a sweet welcome back shutout for belfour |

| Projekt4.o |
| Kolzig ain`t as good as he used to be, when they went all the way to the finals to get kicked in the arse by the Wings, plus I have to say that Caps are stupid or somethin, they send Lang to Wings for no one, and they want from the Leafs, basic package of Stajan, Antropov and that Coliacovo <--- probably wrong spellin sorry, and Gonchar isn`t gettin younger by the days go on, yeah I would like to see him put the Leafs jersey, Leafs need more Eastern European players :D, but what they are askin isn`t to smart, there are other players u can get but still Leafs have one of better defenses when Eagle is playin cause when he`s not there then damn they suck, beside McCabe and Kaberle pair |

March 2, 2004 home Boston 7:30 TSN (National)
Puck just dropped. Gary Roberts is back. We're almost at full strength, with Wade Belak still out.
I think this'll be a pretty intense game. Checkout the Eastern Conference standings; VERY VERY tight.
- Tampa Bay - 84
- Ottawa - 84
- Philadelphia - 84
- Toronto - 82
- Boston - 82
- New Jersey - 78
- Montreal - 76
- NY Islanders - 72
edit Sundin just scored off a rebound. |

leafs r pressing hard hard hard

*Ranking of Canadian Teams*
1.Toronto - Picked up a lot of momentum and ran with it. Don't see a major stoppage soon, though I doubt they can keep up their pace for the rest of the entire season. Possibly finish in the top 3 of the eastern conference (any spot seems up for grabs) and then choke first round (7th game) just like last year :p
2.Vancouver - Solid consistent play all season. Their "rough times" consisted of just 1 loss in regulation, a whole bunch of close calls with some teams we should have slaughtered (on paper, like when Markus singlehandedly defeated the Pens) and atleast a point in all the others. Haven't lost more than 2 in a row in regulation for the past what, 2.5 seasons now?
3.Ottawa - Kinda crappy start (considering the expectations they set for themselves and avid NHL aficianado's last year), they're picking up lots of steam. Still considered by many analysts to be the most "well rounded" team in the league. By the end of the season, they will have superceded either of the 2 teams above, or possibly both. Also my pick in the east to go deeeep in the playoffs.
4.Calgary - Steam steam steam. I honestly don't think they can keep up this pace, considering their grinding style of play. Kipprosfojesla(sp?) is their ace in the hole. though they're in good position now, anything can happen. If they make the playoffs, expect some Minnesota type playoff hockey (read: trap trap crap). Dark horse to go far in the playoffs. I honestly think if they were matched up with either Detroit, St.Louis or Colorado they would push them to the limit.
5.Montreal - They're doing okay. At this pace, they should make the playoffs. I wouldn't bet on them though come playoff time, especially if they run into any of the Toronto teams. Still, if Theodore decides to bring it, they can do some damage.
6.Edmonton - I'm not sure of the exact numbers, but someone on a hockey forum worked it out. Edmonton needs to win around 65% of its remaining games (an insane win percentage. Think St.Louis) in order to just make 82-84 points (the bare minimum avg. that all the 8th place teams had going into the playoffs for the past few seasons, it was around that number). Things aren't looking good for the Oil :( My secret hope of all Canadian teams making it to the post season is fading faster and faster.
that's what I think. comments? |
Wow this thread was resurrected
well lemme just drop my 2 cents(CDN) in here again
*Ranking of Canadian Teams*(updated Mar 2/04)
1. Ottawa - They've got the flow going, super depth. Chara is a monster. Looks like they've superceded both Vancouver and Toronto as I predicted. Near the top in GFpg AND GApg. Top ranking PP, good acquisition in Bondra, healthy. Ottawa is the team to ph34r. Chara is a monster, Havlat is a dirty player.
2. Vancouver - On a roll. For some reason, they do very well against the top teams in the NHL. They kind of have a tough time with the gimp teams though, especially the slow trap/grind teams like ANALheim and Minny. Anyhoo, nice wins against Colorado, Detroit, San Jose and St.Louis set them on the right track again (only 1 point behind Colorado for the div. lead). The Sedins are hot, Hedberg is hot incase Clouts s up, the D-Men are chipping in, fairly healthy. Burke just better do some touch up before the trade deadline.
3. Toronto - You guys are lucky Eddie is back. Well rounded, gritty playoff type team. Has the potential to go far in the playoffs as long as they stay healthy. Also, better get a good backup. Tellqvist is , sorry.
4. Calgary - Jarome is on fire, Kipper is on fire. They have all the ingredients (barely) of a cinderella type team : Hot rookie goalie, bona-fide superstar, and the grinding style of play. My new Dark Horse to go far in the playoffs. I have a lot of faith in this team that if they were to be paired up against Colorado or Detroit I would call it fairly even.
5. Montreal - Theodore is carrying this team on his back. I'd have more faith in them though if they had a true tested clutch player. Right now they don't have a forward that they can sort of "ride" to victory if you know what I mean, kind of how Naslund carries the Canucks on his back sometimes when they're stumbling. Theodore can only do so much.
6. Edmonton - No hope for them, sorry :( all the teams currently in a playoff position look like they're gonna keep it. Only an act of God can propel them into the playoffs.
Overall the East is rediculous, lack of inter-conference play means the top teams get to feast on the bottom teams even more and pad their points. It's a jumble, but Ottawa will be out on top in the end. In the West, the top 4 are pretty much established, and the bottom 4 are pretty much established, now it's just jockying for a spot within those slots. Colorado and Detroit will probably end up on top here, or Vancouver(maybe). In the playoffs, Colorado Detroit Vancouver and Dallas will go far, maybe Calgary and and San Jose.
Yea, hockey is good. Let's bring the cup back to Canada!
