As for the Leafs...I'm telling you guys...they're not going to win the Cup.:D

hahahaha...and that has what to do with the Toronto Maple Laughs?

At least Tiesto has won his version of the Stanley Cup in recent memory.:haha:

Some Leafs fans on some hockey forums I go to are getting obnoxious. Starting to call TML's "God's Team".

*Ranking of Canadian Teams*

1.Toronto - Picked up a lot of momentum and ran with it. Don't see a major stoppage soon, though I doubt they can keep up their pace for the rest of the entire season. Possibly finish in the top 3 of the eastern conference (any spot seems up for grabs) and then choke first round (7th game) just like last year :p

2.Vancouver - Solid consistent play all season. Their "rough times" consisted of just 1 loss in regulation, a whole bunch of close calls with some teams we should have slaughtered (on paper, like when Markus singlehandedly defeated the Pens) and atleast a point in all the others. Haven't lost more than 2 in a row in regulation for the past what, 2.5 seasons now?

3.Ottawa - Kinda crappy start (considering the expectations they set for themselves and avid NHL aficianado's last year), they're picking up lots of steam. Still considered by many analysts to be the most "well rounded" team in the league. By the end of the season, they will have superceded either of the 2 teams above, or possibly both. Also my pick in the east to go deeeep in the playoffs.

4.Calgary - Steam steam steam. I honestly don't think they can keep up this pace, considering their grinding style of play. Kipprosfojesla(sp?) is their ace in the hole. though they're in good position now, anything can happen. If they make the playoffs, expect some Minnesota type playoff hockey (read: trap trap crap). Dark horse to go far in the playoffs. I honestly think if they were matched up with either Detroit, St.Louis or Colorado they would push them to the limit.

5.Montreal - They're doing okay. At this pace, they should make the playoffs. I wouldn't bet on them though come playoff time, especially if they run into any of the Toronto teams. Still, if Theodore decides to bring it, they can do some damage.

6.Edmonton - I'm not sure of the exact numbers, but someone on a hockey forum worked it out. Edmonton needs to win around 65% of its remaining games (an insane win percentage. Think St.Louis) in order to just make 82-84 points (the bare minimum avg. that all the 8th place teams had going into the playoffs for the past few seasons, it was around that number). Things aren't looking good for the Oil :( My secret hope of all Canadian teams making it to the post season is fading faster and faster.

that's what I think. comments?

I agree with you on every point except that you can't judge there chances of this post season based thier last season, if you look back at thier past 4 seasons, they've done quite well post-season. It's just hasn't been our year yet.

I think that this year there gonna do well because in previous seasons, the team hasn't pulled together like this until right before post season, and here we are half way through and there working like a well oiled machine.

I've been looking at player escpecially while passing behind the net. They never look at where they pass, they just know where there players are, and that's been scoring us goals.

And honestly, I wouldn't rule out Montreal either, they always suprise you.;)

Well Hami; they pulled together now, but who's to say that they'll stick together all the way? I personally would've preferred if Toronto went on this streak in April, cause thats when kicking ass really matters ;)

To finish in the top 3 they have to win the North EAst division, which i believe they can. The way its set up the 2nd place teams in the top 2 divisions are ed. As of now, Ottawa would face NJ in the first round, because they are ranked 4 and 5, since ATL get third as a result of the division leaders ranking 1,2,3.

So, if the leafs win their division, theyll be 1 or 2, and will win their first round matchup easily. If the come second to ottawa theyll be 4 or 5 and play second place in the east division. Either NJ or PHI. If that happens only God himself can save us.

they don't always fall apart. Last year they fell apart, the year before, they played the best hockey in years with so many injuries.....
all we need is a good run, with no injuries, and we're cup contenders.
torontotrance
bull

cup contenders....i doubt it

you play well now....but you never hold it in the playoffs...same teams again this year....detroit, new jersey, colorado, philly...

discojoe
nice streak.

just a little update
ottawa unbeaten in 8. 6 behind the leafs with 2 games at hand and beat the two teams the leafs recently lost to. anyone really surprised?
only team in the league top 5 in both goals for and fewest goals against.

:happy2: :happy2: :happy2:

thats little streak the leafs had going was about it for the season. wont seee it again. and now it will be time for teams like the devils & sens to really shine

that'll be the top 2 teams in the east this season.

i think before the halfway point of the season the sens should be on top in the east.

sorry toronto fans, but u guys gotta realize that the initial problems the leafs had at the beginning of the season are still there, and they wont die down...

Q U I N N has to go.
