Cool night for me. Jon really knows how to throw the right tracks around :). Paul was good except for some offbeats. Coulda either been the sound system or him. Alot of PvD Edits! 2 Asian fights during PVD's set.. really crazy and a few other things I wont mention about. Visuals I liked. Girls dressed in white dancing on top of short pillars, on stage and spinning around on pieces of blankets/rope above everyone's head :D. Think of it as a small version of Sensation White. The Sound system was ok except now my ears are still hurting, I can't hear right :-s. Left @ 5:00 AM so I missed the last 1.5 hrs. Looking for a tracklist if anyone can ID most of the songs between both sets.
Btw, if there's already a review thread for this event I'll close this one. Too lazy to search :tongue2
Few tracks I heard between Jon O'Bir & PVD:
DJ Vesiga Vs. Jomar - Nightoperator (Filterheadz Remix)
Menno de Jong Presents Halcyon - Watermark (Original Mix)
Yilmaz Altanhan - Eighties (Ozgur Can Remix)
Ozgur Can Feat. Nick Beman - Not Even Winds
Randy Katana - Fancy Fair 2004 (Original Mix)
Simon & Shaker Feat. Alicia Hawks - Make It (Instrumental Mix) <-- Can't believe PvD played this :eyes:
Paul van Dyk Feat. Vega 4 - Time of Our Lives
Paul van Dyk - For An Angel (Marc van Linden Remix)
Paul van Dyk Feat. Second Sun - Crush (I Know You Want Me) (Vandit Club Mix)
Paul van Dyk - That's Life (PvD Mix)
Enmass - CQ (Seek You)
Motorcycle - As The Rush Comes (Gabriel & Dresden's Sweeping Strings Mix)
Marcos - Cosmicstrings (Original Mix)
Marcos - Just For A Day (Marc van Linden Remix)
Ridgewalkers Feat. El - Find (Andy Moor Mix)
Adam White & Andy Moor Present Whiteroom Vs. Young Parisians Feat. Ben Lost - The Whiteroom Vs. Jump The Next Train (Scott Bond Vs. XDR Intro Mix) (PVD added a bassline @ the start)
That's all I can remember for now :) |

| Just got home and thought i'd post my review while im still up. Apparently Ikon loves making people wait in long lines -(entrance,coat check in, bathrooms, bar, coat check out, exiting). I introduced myself to a bunch of NYTA's, u guys are a cool tight crew. Jon O'bir ripped it, i would def pay to see him be the headlining DJ. PVD's set was good from 12:30-4:30, after that he slowed it down and played too many vocals i think. It sucks that he was rushed off the booth, i thought he was going to finish strong but i guess not. Hope to see some of u at Crobar tonight for Sander K. |

| closed down for stabbing or fights? doubtful, the city clubs closed down for drugs.. they can charade all they want as to what real reasons are, but seriously, its alwayss cuz tons of non-taxed drugs are being sold en mass. |

TOO DAMN CROWDED!
That bottleneck at the corner on the second floor, near the stairways, was especially terrible.
Too many fights too. I heard that there were 4(!) stabbings
Jon O'Bir played an excellent opening set.
I liked PVD's set, as it kept me dancing, but there was lots of skipping and weird sounds in the first few hours. Sounded like there was a problem with his Final Scratch records (if he was indeed using FS) or something. Lotsa oldies too. I thought it was much better in the last 2 hours. I left at 6 am, which is when the lights came on, and it sounded like he put on an encore. For those who stayed, did he play on?
Afterhours at Seho was fun. Thanks to Tae for making it happen! |

| Good set from Jon and Paul, Great seeing all the TA'ers and meeting new ones, I just got home now from nyc and i think im gonna stay up all day......the crowdedness was teh suck, i felt like i was in a human pinball machine, no room to dance, and all the fights, 4 ppl got stabbed...and my friend was harassed and searched because hes asian, overall, it was a good night, best new years ive ever had. |

It was a great night overall.
It was nice to finally meet a lot of you TAs for the first time as well as seeing the familiar faces.
I'm impressed with Jon O'Bir and I can't wait to lisiten to his Essential Mix later this month. And Jon, if you're reading this, you rock and kick some ass on Radio One!
PVD's set was good overall. Heard a skip here and there, but still typical PVD quality.
As for the other things that happened this night:
1) The two fights that I witnessed sucked. Apparently there were more fights upstairs. One girl told me that one guy got beaten up badly for five minutes before security came. And yes, people got stabbed inside. A cop explained to me this as the reason why all asian males had to be photographed by the police.
2) Colibri, my hats off to you for pwning Ikon :thepirate :stongue: :haha: :haha: :haha:
3) The random topless chick dancing. :eyespop:  :haha: :haha:
4) Seeing the crazy avalon dude, again. :haha:
I'll post pics up later |

Jon O'Bir was definitely good, I'm looking forward to his Essential Mix upcoming. Yeah, not really a warm-up gig but a headlining performance.
PVD really slowed things down about 3 a.m. I wasn't feeling that so much. At the time, I was start getting me ready to dance and then ..... breakdown and back down again. Othewise, it was fairly good. He spun a lot of older songs I recognized. I've seen him better.
Saw one Asian fight, the guy covered in Tat's, and his face was worked! He looked like Mike Tyson grabbing for his mouthpiece after being knocked down by Buster Douglass. Dazed..... Yikes!
Then, as we were leaving we were all stopped at the exit because the police had just arrived. We waited for 20+ minutes before they let us out and took our ID's and wrote down all our information. Then, the detectives told us we had to leave the block immediately because there were multiple stabbings.
Lovely...
It also was so freaking packed (as expected)!! You could never really dance and you were getting bumped A LOT. It only got cool once peeps cleared out around 3:30. And PVD's set picked up again and I had a good time. |
