RJ, stated that he did not like what was going on on TOTA. He did NOT mention that it is better somewhere else. Who are the people that brought up Tribe in the first place? Instead of stating what can be done to improve TOTA, like most other people in this thread, karim and you have both stated how more mature the Tribers are. Why add more fuel to the fire? Maybe, you did it subcontiously, but you did exactly what I was talking about. Posting something that will get a reaction out of people. Everyone on TOTA knows that most of the TBK (and i'm talking about not every single poster, but the ones on the inner circle of Tribers) thinks low of TA. Why bring up the issue yet again?

Tribe was not brought up to add fuel to the fire. You are letting personal negative views about tribe interfear and dictate how you took our posts. Tribe was brought up simply because it is a message board, that is VERY MUCH ALONG THE SAME LINES as TOTA. A music community discussion group that discusses other things such as politics, religion, beliefs etc. The key difference is, that there isn't nearly as much flaming between members. Sure many are at different points of their lives, however age is but a number. You can't simply state that they're older as an excuse for TOTA being less civilized, that's insulting to TOTA itself.
You state that many tribers don't like TOTA's. Possibly because they got flamed out of TA and found TRIBE to be a more welcoming community. You can't deny that many people have left TA because of the politics that take place here. In a recent thread on tribe that criticized TA, they mentioned many of the same points that RJ mentions in his original post. It's not a coincidence, it's because it's true.
Tribe does have it's faults. I've seen it moderated rather heavily and questioned some of the boards actions. Infact, there's a fair share of immature people on there that take things too far.
Tribe was not brought up to be a TRIBE > TOTA discussion. I mentioned it to point out that even people outside of this community see tota's faults the same was as many of us see our own. What makes tribe so different? Age we can't change. Maturity we can. We all need a lesson in message board discussion tactics.

I completely agree, however what you propose is something next to impossble. It all falls to the lowest common denominator, and for the most part, that denominator represents a large group of 'individuals' who simply don't have the ability for objective thought. Predominanty, everything stated here comes from a viewpoint that is strictly personal. It also has a lot to do with the individualities of this large group, and their inability to look beyond their own opinions and egos. |

Zoki's got a point...been in and out of the forum for the past few weeks and I'm not sure what drama's been going on but the people I socialize with on here (a lot of the active community) are of the highest quality, IMO. Haven't had ANY drama problems here, except for DJ N00blar; but then who hasn't had any with him? :p |

NOBODY has the right to inflict harm or damage on anybody – regardless of facts, fiction, truth or lies. In my opinion - TOTA is founded on a mutual respect, a mutual consideration, and a mutual positive attitude – such characteristics that were not extended (and ignored even) through personal attacks of late.
Some individual's attacks on others are not “honest mistakes” or “jokes”. They are aggressive acts - with full intent to inflict harm and damage. No excuse offers a reasonable explanation.
Attacks of a personal nature are inappropriate and are clearly an attempt to defame and slander, borderline libel.
I am thankful that my reputation (and most other TOTA's reputations) speaks for itself (themselves). My (our) contribution to TOTA and TOTA members has always been positive, encouraging and supportive. My (our) intentions have always been noble in nature. We know who we are.
I sincerely hope that incidents like this do not happen in the future – humans deserve to act with better behavior, better judgment and total courtesy. |
