Sure TA is internationally recognized, but the subforum of TOTA can be compared to tribe for many of the discussions are on the exact same topics.
I've partied with Tribers before, they're not that much older than you and me. Sure many of them are professionals and some have kids, but they're still into alot of the same things that many members of this board are into.
You may hate tribe, but the way the board is handled by its members can be admired for their level of maturity.
I think TA's are wicked to party with, but man, the forum can turn ugly sometimes. I come here because I have met cool people through here, and I'm a trance fan. You don't find too many trance fans on Tribe. I also find some of the threads on TA to be entertaining reads. Just many members need to lighten up on the hostility. I'd rather have TA be a much warmer inviting community than an intimidating one.

Sadly some people are consistant when it comes to their whining about what other people post. I find that way more annoying than flame wars or some other types of post content. There are tools in place so that other people dont have to bother you. |

Well if they were to rest on their laurels and start to really suck like a lot of the famous DJs out there have then i'd expect people to have the balls to say it. Friends would say it to their friends in person, strangers write reviews about it on message boards. I don't think anyone here personally knows Tiesto do they? |

so you think it is a polite thing to say: "i don't post here anymore because the people here don't know how to argue (insinuating they are stupid) so i'm going to a different board because the level of conversation is better." especially when the other board is made up of people that are completely made up of different people, at different points in their lives.
politcal discussion is great for those that want to discuss it, but if you are constantly forcing people to state and defend their political/religous views on subjects, and put down their intelligence for having those views, it gets to be rude. any ettiquette book will tell you that it is rude. and now i don't need to be told by you that that i need to grow up and i'm not being reasonable. i don't want to discuss politics, and i don't. i'm glad that i'm able to block most of the threads and comments by having one single person on ignore. but things are posted on TOTA, ON PURPOSE ,to get a reaction of out others and that is the lowest form of impoliteness i have ever seen.
and whoever said peoples feeling are hurt by differing opinions? peoples feelings are hurt when their intelligence/education/religion/background/moral beliefs are questioned. if you want to discuss politics on a high level, go where others like you want to discuss those things. it all depends what you want out of it. i truly believe that there are indivuduals on TOTA that only post just to get a rise and at the same time entertain themselves in their boring lives by peoples reactions to certain topics. motives are all wrong. if your motives are to actually discuss those topics on a satisfactory level, you would not post them in TOTA. i mean even on the beloved tribe, there is a political forum and general discussion is not riddled with it, how come people there are able to follow some sort of rules (mostly)? |

I agree that the JZ thread got really stupid however I find it interesting how:
Some people bitch about too much drama
Some people bitch about not enough drama ("its quite boring around here lately")
Some people bitch about Tiesto threads
Some people bitch about those who bitch about Tiesto threads
Some people bitch about other thread content in general
I'm sure someone will even bitch about my use of the word bitch
Some people bitch about predicitabilty of thread content when their bitching about other's behaviour has actually become the most predictable.
Some people don't know how to use ignore and select threads properly
The point is you can't please everyone. It's one thing to be in a stupid flame war about nothing. It's another to have an opinion about something. Everyone here has an opinion otherwise we wouldn't be here to share it. Thats how messageboards work. Im sick of self appointed messageboard cops trying to tell everyone how the board should be run. That decision is up to the owner of the board and it's up to the user to know how to properly navigate to get maximum enjoyment, plain and simple. |

you really have to carefull what you post here, because if someone disagrees you get bashed, I see it all the time, even posting a simple thread about djs if they've ever been in Toronto, I see people insulting the guy because he didn't know they're only producers, very immature.
I agree with Marg that to talk about Politics and Religion with others is extremely rude.
"I HATE this, I HATE that" HATE is such a strong word, I don't hate anyone even people that hurt me in real life, how can some people use this word almost like a hello.
And getting to point where others threaten to something like a fight is horrible
I see these things and it makes me sick to my stomach, people need to respect the tastes of others, prog vs trance, trance being to simple, prog being boring, techno sounds the same is getting really boring.
World ain't a perfect place neither is this community, so I'm really not sure if this can ever change, but there is always hope

i don't hate tribe, i know some people from there. i hate the fact that so many people think that level of maturity is measured by the way you can form an argument or say the better inside joke, isn't it more mature to not say anything at all, or say it in the right context? i read tribe and post on tribe all the time and the way certain people are treated on there is beyond rude and immature.
does it make a person more mature because they know more about politics than i do. i hardly think that is the case.
i get pationate about certain topics, namely ones related to the treatment of women. |

Personal insults are stupid. People should be allowed to disagree. If they want to say such and such DJ is boring and i didn't like it then that is their business. Where the problem is is when that turns into a personal attack against the person who disagrees with them. |
