Disappointing TOTA Behavior
View this Thread in Original format

After a wonderful weekend of music and friends I return home and check-in with my beloved TOTA to see how everybody else’s weekend has turned out. Rather than being welcomed by useful reviews and poignant conversation – I return to see the main threads of discussion have eroded into an absolute demonstration of hostile, disrespectful and hateful behavior.

These threads (and the horrible content within) have certainly put a damper on my Sunday night – as it is apparent that there are major problems with the behavior on TOTA.

It is not reasonable to expect everybody to agree on everything 100% of the time – however it seems that TOTA has moved beyond polite and intelligent discourse to an outright aggressive, “in your face” attack-response on nearly everything.

I am very disappointed and concerned with the clear lack of respect for one’s self and respect for others on TOTA.

Respect yourself! Inappropriate and immature response damages one’s reputation and discredits one’s opinions, ideas and credibility.

Respect others! We all deserve to be treated with common courtesy, politeness and patience.

GIVE RESPECT. Don’t expect any in return and don’t make excuses. Take the higher ground, be the bigger person – treat others with dignity and respect NO MATTER WHAT!

Personally knowing the majority of TOTA – I know that we are all capable of taking our generous and caring attitude from the offline world and using it as the standard for the attitude in the online world as well.

I’m not certain that this thread will even impact the behavior on TOTA, but I hope it does. I’d invite everybody who is concerned to share his or her CONSTRUCTIVE thoughts on how we can work together to improve this situation immediately (without laying blame or providing excuses please).

That the real man, the entity, the thinker, will react back on you just exactly in proportion to the way you act to him, and this reaction will be in another life, if not now, and even if now felt will still return in the next life.

The fact that the person whom you condemn, or oppose, or judge seems now in this life to deserve it for his acts in this life, does not alter the other fact that his nature will react against you when the time comes.

The reaction is a law not subject to nor altered by any sentiment on your part. He may have, truly, offended you and even hurt you, and done that which in the eye of man is blameworthy, but all this does not have anything to do with the dynamic fact that if you arouse his enmity by your condemnation or judgment there will be a reaction on you, and consequently on the whole of society in any century when the reaction takes place.

Please DO NOT! The objective is not to point fingers or lay blame - the objective is to improve how we interact and treat each other.

I think he is trying to extinguish the flames, not accelerate them.

SCREW ALL OF YOU GUYS!! I DON'T AGREE WITH THIS, AND I THINK YOU SHOULD ALL SHUTUP!

LOL, I'm sorry... I am just kidding :)

I totally agree RJ, people are becomming a little too offensive, and it doesn't make for nice reading, or conversing. I have reconsidered posting many things that could have been of value to someone, only because I knew someone was going to argue with me, and most likely take personal shots.

Good call RJ...we needed this "kick in the ass" ;)

This whole trance vs prog issue is pure BS. There are many people who like both but if you're not one of them don't go bashing the DJs and fans of the other genre. Total lack of respect if you ask me. We should be happy that EDM in general is doing so well over here and not exclusive to Europe.

I've run into many TAs at clubs who don't come on the forum anymore because it's too 'political'. Why do some people feel the need to push their political agenda on a music forum? WTF!?!? Keep them in the political discussion forum... that's what it's there for dammit!

One more thing, some people need to keep their superiority complexes and egos in check. It never ceases to amaze me how much time is spent writing these lengthy essays in reply to someone’s one line comment.

PLUR!!!
