It seems to me that many people have missed the point that RJ was actually trying to make.
...There's absolutely no sense in trying to exculpate our "peace-loving" selves and blame the well-known (or less-well-known) "instigators". There's nothing wrong with disagreements and arguments, it's how we manage those disagreements and how we conduct ourselves in those arguments that matters. Arguments are fun and informative. It's when people respond to another person's argument with cursing and personal attacks that the hate cycle begins and everything degenerates.

Everybodies input in this thread is valuable and we should all be considerate to each other. NO ONE PERSON SHOULD THINK THEMSELVES MORE *** OR ABOVE OTHERS...to make statements like..."many people have missed the point that RJ..."
Such statements are unnecessary, antagonistic and unwelcome. So it's probably best to not do this at all.
Discussions are fun and informative.
Disagreements and Arguments are not fun, nor are they informative. They are negative and detrimental to our character and our tolerance for others.
Upon observation, I would say that the conduct of insulting TA's or refusing to apologize for insulting them creates great animosity and show's a blatant disrespect for them...and it is heightened with the key words that I mentioned earlier.
How we manage or conduct ourselves in arguments is something we should never have to worry about...because we should not be having arguments in the first place. There is no excuse for it.
If what your about to say is not positive words, then it's best not to say it.
It can't be that hard to be nice...so just do it. |

Ive always luv'd this quote i read or heard somewhere:
"If you can't be kind, at least have the decency to be vague." ;)
EDIT:
Okay, im not usually one to dispense gay little sayings like these, but they seem somehow appropiate, esp. in spite of all the hating thats been flying around!
Especially this one... i think its *highly* appropiate:
"We could learn a lot from crayons. Some are sharp, some are pretty and some are dull. Some have weird names, and all are different colors, but they all have to live in the same box.
Also, just for kicks :D: "A truly happy person is one who can enjoy the scenery on a detour." |

okay take a look at what the board had just today:
Blind girl falls into a meat grinder.
Dreadful Drop
In the name of equality:
you expect people to be serious? |

TOTA is a peer group... this is id bring up to my friends in person or on msn or on another msg if we all used the same one.
the reason id post that here as opposed to another forum on TA, is bc this is where ur TO friends that u party with read frequently.
i suppose it just doesnt bother me and i dont udnerstand why it grates on others nerves to emphatically :( |

Bah, what’s the point? The same characters will continue on with their same methods, slinging , disrespecting others, antagonizing, all while appearing less than astute in the process. It’s just disappointing I guess. |
First off,
RJ, GREAT thread;), we needed it.
YES!!! Acting as if they know more or are better, yet appearing
MUCH LESS astute in the end.... Anyone have an OPEN-MIND?
I have NEVER thought of myself as better than ANYONE, and will NEVER
ridicule someone for their preferences.
I'm a HUGE trance fan, but i almost equally love progressive and house.
Why is that so rare? And most of all, the haters are PREDOMINATLY
prog-heads - which draws some conclusions....
BIG TIP: It NEVER hurts to RESPECT other's opinions.:happy2: |

This whole trance vs prog issue is pure BS. There are many people who like both but if you're not one of them don't go bashing the DJs and fans of the other genre. Total lack of respect if you ask me. We should be happy that EDM in general is doing so well over here and not exclusive to Europe.
I've run into many TAs at clubs who don't come on the forum anymore because it's too 'political'. Why do some people feel the need to push their political agenda on a music forum? WTF!?!? Keep them in the political discussion forum... that's what it's there for dammit!
One more thing, some people need to keep their superiority complexes and egos in check. It never ceases to amaze me how much time is spent writing these lengthy essays in reply to someone’s one line comment.
PLUR!!! |
thank you |

i look at it like this. if u dont fight with others, ur a pansy pink slippered wearing sugar plum fairy loving anal astronaut. and since this whole gay marriage by law has been passed it seems like alot of ta's are coming out of the closet
just my 2 cents
which is actually worth 1 cent. and since that saying actually originated in the states its really worth 0.5 cents. so take it as u will |

After a wonderful weekend of music and friends I return home and check-in with my beloved TOTA to see how everybody else’s weekend has turned out. Rather than being welcomed by useful reviews and poignant conversation – I return to see the main threads of discussion have eroded into an absolute demonstration of hostile, disrespectful and hateful behavior.
These threads (and the horrible content within) have certainly put a damper on my Sunday night – as it is apparent that there are major problems with the behavior on TOTA.
It is not reasonable to expect everybody to agree on everything 100% of the time – however it seems that TOTA has moved beyond polite and intelligent discourse to an outright aggressive, “in your face” attack-response on nearly everything.
I am very disappointed and concerned with the clear lack of respect for one’s self and respect for others on TOTA.
Respect yourself! Inappropriate and immature response damages one’s reputation and discredits one’s opinions, ideas and credibility.
Respect others! We all deserve to be treated with common courtesy, politeness and patience.
GIVE RESPECT. Don’t expect any in return and don’t make excuses. Take the higher ground, be the bigger person – treat others with dignity and respect NO MATTER WHAT!
Personally knowing the majority of TOTA – I know that we are all capable of taking our generous and caring attitude from the offline world and using it as the standard for the attitude in the online world as well.
I’m not certain that this thread will even impact the behavior on TOTA, but I hope it does. I’d invite everybody who is concerned to share his or her CONSTRUCTIVE thoughts on how we can work together to improve this situation immediately (without laying blame or providing excuses please). |
:haha: someone give him a hug |
