This issue is WAY too complicated for you to just simply make that kind of statement.

As far as I'm concerned, by my definition of "life," she's been dead for 15 some odd years.

I'm sorry, but being kept alive by a machine is not living.

It's much worse then that - it's cruel. Plain and simple.

I doubt, if anyone given the option, would opt to become a vegetable and "life" in a bed for the rest of your years not being able to enjoy even the simple pleasures of life.

+1, let the woman die.

if i were in her position, i would want to die (i've already told my family this). she is "living" her life basically strapped to a bed. she's a "vegetable". the situation is so sad... just let her rest in peace and let her go.

Lets turn this thread into horrible, tasteless jokes.

{edit} On second thought...

I was reading a report by independent professionals on Yahoo! news suggesting that what they are showing you on TV is very misleading - that she is responding to sounds, smiling, movine eyes...it's all reflexes...it is absolutely not humanely possible for her to respond to anyone/anything...like vertigo said she's been practically dead for 15 years :(

If it were clear that she was in pain or clear that she wanted it this way then id say let her die. However we don't know what she would want and she is obviously able to live on her own as long as she is fed. This is NOT the same as taking someone off life support. Imagine if someone tied you down and decided to let you starve to death. This is no different.

IF and only IF it was clear that she wanted this i'd support euthenasia in a dignified manner a la dr kevorkian but letting her die like this is inexcusable.

I have to question the husbands motives especially when he is still married to her for, in his own words "legal reasons" yet has 2 kids with another woman.

This is completely wrong no matter how you look at it.

All i can say is after seeing this i'll be making a living will.
