With the bullpen the Braves have this year, even Devil Rays can beat them in playoffs. Gives up about 4 runs a game. Plenty for opposition. I am disgusted. I cant believe this issue wasnt resolved before the start of the playoffs on Braves' behalf. Bad decision making on someone's behalf.

They only have to win 2 more. Not that hard.

unfortunately, an upset by the Padres was not in the cards (pun intended)
Maybe the Cards made the Pods upset about how they played

yup, in Game 3 against the Astros, 3 relievers in a row went a total of 0.0 innings, i.e. they failed to get a single out, and gave up 4 runs

at least the Braves got Kyle Farnsworth at the trading deadline, and have made him into an effective closer, as he went 10 for 10 in save opps during the regular season. Much like the Yanks, getting the ball to the closer is the big challenge.

at last, Farnsworth gets his turn to fizzle in Game 3
First giving up the grand slam to Berkman in the 8th, then Ausmus' game-tying (barely) homer with 2 outs in the 9th

hot damn, almost a series-ending walk-off homer by Luke Scott, going just barely foul

Tell me about it. I've been watching the whole game .. I am disgusted.

Astros & Braves going into the 14th inning
We have an instant classic here
At this rate, it just might take us right up to the Yanks-Angels game :p
We just might see Roger Clemens pitch in relief

Florida Marlins: 1.53 WHIP, 4.82 ERA
Atlanta Braves: 1.52 WHIP, 4.66 ERA
Philadelphia Phillies: 1.28 WHIP, 4.25 ERA
New York Mets: 1.44 WHIP, 3.78 ERA
Washington Nationals: 1.34 WHIP, 3.49 ERA

Interesting, no? Weren't the Mets supposed to have the worst bullpen in not only the NL East, but in the entire National League? I love stuff like this...
Vlad
Lachey is starting again tonight. What do you guys think? Enough rest for him to play against the Yank's?
Vlad
Yes, Im a newb and I want to get alittle more educate, what does WHIP stand for?

My only guess would be 'Something' Hits per Innings Pitched.

Walks plus Hits per Innings Pitched

Walks + Hits per inning. That's usually the best stat to go by when judging pitchers as ERA is dependent partially on defense. This year, only Johan and Pedro had WHIPs less than 1.00. And that's dominant. Pedro's 2000 year, he had a 0.80, which is the lowest since 1880.
