in comes Clemens to pitch (unless the Astros win it here in the 15th)
and he's going to pinch-hit!

It would've been sweet seeing him drive in the winning run, but he does his job and lays down a nice sac bunt

Walks + Hits per inning. That's usually the best stat to go by when judging pitchers as ERA is dependent partially on defense. This year, only Johan and Pedro had WHIPs less than 1.00. And that's dominant. Pedro's 2000 year, he had a 0.80, which is the lowest since 1880.

Listen, no matter what anyone says, Pedro is undoubtedly one of the top 10 pitchers ever to play baseball - when hes on, you might as well just forfeit the game.

And you could say the same about the Big Unit in his prime, but Im not sure if hes top 10... top 20 more likely.

Dude... you think you have to tell me that? As far as I'm concerned, he is *the* greatest pitcher ever.

Its hard to say anyone is the greatest ever, because you dont know how past pitchers would do against today's hitters and vise versa. So any kind of status you put on a pitcher is only speculation.

Could you imagine a rotation with Pedro and Mariano in it... hypotheically... if both of them are on... its safe to say youre not scoring a run, and would be lucky to get a hit.

Well... I think it's safe to say that Babe Ruth and Ted Williams are the two greatest hitters ever. So, I'll say that Pedro is the greatest pitcher ever. Of course, this is only going by stats. But... pretty accurate stats.

going into the 17th...

2 Mets records fall
Longest postseason game in innings (1986 vs. Astros)
Longest division series game in time (2000 vs. Giants)

just a little longer, and they'll break the postseason game record, held by the Ventura grand slam single game

Braves are like 1 for a million with runners in scoring position today. Sigh ...
