I was refering to those ON the green screen.

Please read before you call bull.

To be honest. 90% of your post was anti our profession. You did give props the the Airforce and Reservists (and meteorologists) in the hurricane aircraft. Yes, and you did give thanks to the NHC (who only has a staff of 7 meteorologists only).

The rest was just rude and putting down.

To Ang's defense. That post was regarding snatcho's (sorry nacho... i had a friend named nacho and we called him that.... rolls of the tongue well!) initial comment towards weather folk.

Ok but I was talking about the stuff down here in Miami not a generalization (if you read where it says "stand behind a camera"...I never made my point to be as a whole...I meant the TV personalities which is what was being talked about from the start.

I said I respected the NHC etc BECAUSE it's relating to things here in Miami (as I said before)

Ok.

'Snatch' is the slang we use for a girl's hoo-haa.

Well weather folk are considered meteorologists or at least called it. I was talking about TV personalities, those reporting the weather. NO WHERE in my post did I put down professional meteorologists.

I just don't like watching the news & seeing bogus reports.
Personally, I think TV weather folk are a joke. That is what I was saying all along.

-edit- I do apologize if I offended the real profession. But I don't take back what I said about these clown weather men & women.

Even if it says 'meteorologist' on their name on the news is not a gaurentee that they are indeed true meteorologists. Journalism majors call themselves 'meteorologist' on the air. That is why Ang is up in arms and our community (as in professional meteorologists) have a bad taste in our mouths when it comes to those individuals.

Correct. Bald tacos would also be an acceptable answer.

I'll be far from having a degree, actually I think I come out with nearly an associates, but I'm going through the Air Force Meteorlogy School. Its 330 days long, M-F, 5-5, and including several weekends, so work that what you will in to college days if you feel like it. Which is one of the hardest (and longest) to get in to unless you have some really high scores on your tests, and the failure rate for a while was pretty damn high(My MSgts class only had 1 in 6 graduate). I've been taking tutoring and reading up all I can before I even go out there to attempt to the school.

However horrible they might be, we have to have a communicating relationship with them. Can you imagine having NO ONE to tell you what the weather is going to be like? We DO need them, and its terribly important to be in good standing with each other. We need to be held responsible for educating them on what we know, so they dont misinform the public.

It just sucks when they make us look like schmucks in return...

Also the air force is in NEED of trained meteorologists. My brother is a major in the AF and tried talking me into the career path. Im more of a researcher... forecasting is great.... but Im choosing the scholarly life.
