When I was Army we worked Joint Forces, but I was mainly with Marines. What do you want to know?

well, from what i've heard from the AF side...it just makes them appreciate the way the AF treats its people comapred to the Army [living quarters, especially]. one of our Cadre officers once told us that a place he stayed while assigned on TDY w/ Army for something, that the AF would have condemned it. haha.

I was going to minor in geography, but ISU cancelled that program the year before i started :(

Just out of curiosity, have you ever been on assignment with AF folks before?

I always hear the AF side of that scenario, but never the Army side...would be neat to hear a different perspective

worked with them very sparingly... and nothing with anything that has to do with weather... im in a combat unit doing combat stuff... weather isnt really an issue here in Iraq either... its sunny like every day...

all we care about with weather is the moon luminosity and if its going to rain a lot... little rain doesnt stop us...

thats it... i got the GI bill so the masters in Geog or a double bachlers in Met along with my Geog at FSU is on tap for 07 when i get out... ill get out like 2 months before i make my O-3(captain)....

AF OTS (officer training school) at Maxwell AF base in Alabama is like a palace compared to Army OCS (officer canidate school)...

we went there once for a joint athletic competition... we absolutly smoked the AF and Navy...

AF = Chair force... it really is as bad as everybody says..

Coming from Army to Air Force (work @ Joint Forces Headquarters now) but still attatched to Army I get the best of AF, and best of Army. Basically I can tell you, yes, the quality of living/treatment is much better. Whenever I start training again I can talk about it with more firsthand experience. Initial impression: AF gets more money and cooler toys.

you know, that's so ironic that you mention weather in iraq....that's kind of what i did my thesis on: A Validation of AFWA's Dust Transport Application over Southwest Asia - basically seeing how well their DTA forecasted for large and small-scale dust storm events in that region. it was pretty interesting and i saw some pictures of a huge dust storm near Al Asad Air Base - blew my mind.

Before my brother was a pilot he was a civil engineer. He had a banner in his office of some military bomber with the sights on a bridge and the following text:

We build 'em... just so you can blow 'em up

haha, some friends of mine did some extra schooling at Maxwell, and they said it sucked there.

but then again, going to Tyndall AFB for my field training was horrible - not only did the weather suck (29 days of 90+ weather heat, and tropical storm bonnie....), but the A/C in our dorm was busted for the first 5 days. ugh.

You know what, even if the AF is the chair force....as long as I enjoy it and i get a sense of pride out of doing what i do. that's how i really felt when i did my thesis w/ the AFWA folks - it just felt great to do something that possbly made a difference in other people's lives. i dunno how to explain it
