Man thats cool you got to live in other parts of hte world and have a good education over there. Shame you didnt know about the part lifestyle! I was going to the Guv the day I turned 19, and really loved the whole party scene, even though I am such a huge rocker at heart. :p

P.S. Must suck to look up to kids like Eric and me! :p

I feel a lot safer walking down the streets of toronto then I do the streets of Bahgdad

I think the point is that Toronto is a lot safer then many parts of the world....it doesn't make it acceptable what happened....and I don't think anyone was stating it is acceptable.

wrong.. there are safe parts in that city.. and bad areas.. the whole city isn't that bad..

i know like this happens more often there.. but people keep dying here.. :conf:

Blaming music for these people decision, is like blaming trance or house for drug use, or blaming emo music for suicides. It doesnt work, sorry, nothing you can say will ever make anyone half intelligent think otherwise.

Actually, I do belame tance music for my drug use. DAMN you TRANCE....if it wasn't for you I would be a good little boy

I never said the whole city was bad....just making a point that personally, I would feel safer walking down any street in Toronto then any street in Bahgdad.

What has happened here is terrible and something needs to be done. We can put all the laws in place and ban all the things we want and that will not stop the problem of growing gang violence.

How do you prevent gangs?

answer that and you solve the gun violence in this city at least.
TranceGrooves
how about all that have posted in this thread put a sock in it and actually DO SOMETHING about this problem. lets all gather in front of city hall get media involved get general public involved and DEMAND VERY STRICT punishments for all of the ppl that may be involved in these crimes, regardless of 1st offence or 10th offence.
a 15 yr old kid killing a 35 yr old man with 2 kids and a wife should not be treated any different because a) he is 15 b) its his first offence.
shoot the motherbitch smack middle of downtown and let it be a lesson to others. the hell with oh its not right and its not fair and ppl deserve second chance bull. in this matter there shud not be a second chance because in no way shape or form you can convince me that gang member doesnt know or doesnt think that there is another way out of his ty life other than shooting and killing innocent ppl and or other gang members.
instead of having a discussion which will fade away in next couple of days anyway and arguing about what is 3rd world country and what isnt lets get the fawk off our asses and do something to stop the violence :)
thankyou ...

by having strict laws and sticking to them . Miami solved a huge deal of it gun violence just by having a law where if u were caught with a gun u were to be put away for 25 years. it happened to about 20 ppl and all of a sudden the gun crime rate dropped from 5 or 6 killings a day to a week without any killings. i am not saying there isnt any killings, there will be no doubt but we sure the hell can reduce it by a significant amount.

Again, I totally disagree with your conclusion re: Detroit. How the can it be a 3rd world country?

Have you ever been to Detroit? I mean actually been there and not just taking the bridge to Florida? Stand at Gratiot and 5 mile or highland park and tell me that you arent in a third world country.

quote:
[In terms of poverty, lack of access to education, and corruption in inner-city Detroit (which is the root of their current problems) MAYBE I'll see your point, but that's not the approach you took nor is it the case in Toronto.

now you are getting it... And yes its not the case here YET. But in the 50s Detroit was much more vibrant than toronto is today. Poverty, racial tension and violent crime put an end to that. And sadly the same is happening here now.

Saudi Arabia, despite the most corrupt police and ignorant population that I have ever experienced, is not considered a 3rd world nation.
actually it is and the only thing saving them is oil

So, no, sir, despite your wicked laser/lighting skills, I will have to whole-heartedly disagree with your term, "becoming".
