what a ridiculous comment. Our country is far from a 3rd world country. There are bound to be good and bad people in the world... things like this can't be completely prevented. At least the men who did this were caught and are in custody and not loose on the streets. My wishes go out to all that were affected by this. |

Amidst thousands of Boxing Day bargain hunters in Toronto’s downtown core, a series of shots were fired Monday evening, hitting six people and leaving at least one woman dead. The deceased female is believed to have been an innocent bystander and uncomfirmed reports suggest another victim has also died.
The incident took place at a number of locations along Yonge Street as those responsible for the crossfire moved, and culminated when at least four of victims were reported at a Foot Locker store on Yonge south of Gerrard St just after 5pm.
As the shots were fired along the busy commercial strip, thousands of shoppers hit the ground sending panic through the massive holiday crowd.
“Someone just said, ‘Get down, get down,’ so everybody just got on the ground…it was very scary,” said one witness.
It’s unclear what sparked the incident, but police do have two suspects in custody. The pair was picked up at Castle Frank subway station shortly after the violence erupted and taken to 52 Division.
Authorities also believe they have recovered at least one of the murder weapons.
An off-duty police officer was also shot in the leg during the fracas, but he’s expected to recover.

right on, there is good and bad everywhere in the world,
but this whole country is formed by all sorts of different people anyways, in most cases it's the same in most countries. not saying that people from certain ethnic backgrounds are the ones turning the country into a 3rd world, but most people are raised with a mentality and they bring it over to a modern society and try to justify their way of thinking. whatever their mentality is, shooting another person or not respecting everyone equally.. what can you do? |

Honestly, I always call my mom crazy for worrying too much and always think things like these don't happen but look at all the innocent bystanders just shopping at the Eaton's Centre. Makes you think twice about how dangerous it can be and how we can't be naive about it.
So sad... it could have been any one of us or anyone we know. The city better do something quick - like this can't keep happening.
Any news yet on whether they were targeted or random victims? Seems like it was random - a cause for even more concern. |

| This is really scary. My brother and I were supposed to be around that area today. :( These people are ing animals. Opening fire in a crowd of innocent people? I have absolutely no sympathy for them. |
