the gangster came first yes....
but not all people who listen to it are black.
what about the rich white kid who acts like a thug and commits crime for no reason. There are so many reasons these acts are comitted, i am only saying that its a pretty big coincidence that the homie factor is always involved. |

Ah, the homie factor, such a scientific theory cannot be dismissed.
Seriously dude, obviously there was black and hispanic gangs long before gangster rap was prevalent in our society, but as inner cities became more violent in the states, one can see how that music is just another reflection of a large growing problem these cities are faced.
I know white kids who think its cool, and hang around with the wrong people, and its all influenced because the initially want to fit in somewhere, and be something their not, but explain why some of the friends I have that listen to it, are all "Homied" out and never hurt a single soul or did anything past stealing like 100 bucks or selling some weed here and there. Crime is all dependant on the person and the situations they are presented in, not the music they listen to. If you can see that, then you might as well put blame on every genre of music for their cons. Electronica music is the reason for such high drug rate consumption, suicide has risen because of emo music, and more people are sleeping with their sisters because of country. The list can go on and on...*edit* putting the blame solely on music is just another way to shift blame elsewhere to avoid the real problems that we face in society. |
