Here's what I think,
Trance can be a wide variety of styles. I've always believed Trance means a more literal sense of moving someone emotionally and/or physically (Armins ideal behind the title 'a state of trance')
If you taste is limited to uplifting only stuff thats fine.
If you only like the more 'proggy' stuff, thats fine.
If your tastes happen to cover both, or more, thats fine.
It's not a crime to only love one, or the other, or indeed both or all. Why waste time trying to convert others to your taste in music. I don't spend hours trying to convince my friends to have the same choice of favourite colour as I do.
If I happen to like black and red, doesn't make me anymore right/intelligent/enlightened than say someone thats into blue.
All this crap about things going bad/ or betrayal of the trance sound I read in forums from those that only like one style, bull. Trance evolves naturally by itself, it grows expands, maybe fills out a little this way.. then spreads out another way a bit later. There's no rules, there's no conspiracy. Just producers making music, thats it!.
We make the music we love and believe in and are under no obligation to make what we believe specific people want to hear. The minute you start working like that, then you really do end up producing e, you have to make it for yourself first.
So when a producer who's works you've liked a lot starts to take his music in a direction that doesn't agree to your tastes, cut them a little slack please!. If thats what they want to do let them be, they're not harming you, or threatening your family, you have a choice, a choice not to continue buying their music and find other artists you do like. Remember that others will actually like their new stuff!, and may even garner new fans in the process.
Are they wrong and you're right because the producer didn't stick to your tastes. of course not, they just evolved into something different.
And that's all the different styles and genres of music are 'different', not better or worse :)
I've always noticed the tranceaddict forums are such a breeding ground for negativity and its always puzzled me why human nature makes is soo wrapped up into it, this.. this need to convince others we're right, our taste is best.
To be truly opened minded, you need to be able to accept the differences, the differences of other peoples tastes, as well as any difference in style a producer may go through throughout their career, and be comfortable with it and move forward in a positive way.
I just had to get that little rant out of my system.
Going back on topic.
3 discs, certainly ambitious. I've only heard the lo-fi short clips on juno. Disc 1 didn't quite grab my attention, disc 2 sounds really cool though, definitely my kinda thang.
Disc 3, the kind of chillout thats great to have in the background whilst working on something, but perhaps not something that really makes me want to sit and listen.
Overall, very much the feel of a compilation album, pleasent. Not groundbreaking, but nice enough :)

+1 im with the italian ^^
some new sounds wont harm indeed...a new style always developes to something good...and Laurent , no one here is bashing your music and im sure that this "Holden - Nothing" issue is coincidence...personally i give much props for working on 3 CDs that each one brings another sound...thats is great and i bet u worked ur ass off on this...good job , as a Producer , i do listen to alot of other stuff that gives me inspiration to develop new style that people will might like or not...when im working on a tune i just flow with it , without even think about the music industry..i have to be complete with it and then if i wanna present it to the world i will do so. and i think that Laurent did a great thing and that might show u other airwave fans that he has the knowledge in producing other genres aswell...!
Good job then...

I can't imagine you can waste your time at work or at weekends by bashing music you don't like, instead of talking about the music that you really like, in other threads, or spending the weekend with people you like around you. But honestly, you all made a point here, LOL. You don't like the music?? well, that's excellent for you!! Why do you waste your time bashing me then??
I'm cool with people not liking or bashing me, either way, coz I don't give a about what ppl think of this album, meanwhile I have a lot more respect for the club ppl than many of the whole TA user list will ever have in their entire life.
I have no time for negativity, so I'll stop this here and won't post again, and I suggest my personal haters, whatever your reasons are, do the same, coz this show of verbal violence and bashing won't lead you to a better world in your messy bedroom, really, LOL.
If I wasted my time bashing any other artist, I wouldn't make music anymore by lack of time. Please, guys, let us hear what you can make, we're all extremely curious!! :-)

I'd like to say that many of us who 'bash' you are huge fans of yours, we've supported you by buying your tracks for a long time, but there has been a noticable standard drop, since the inception of the banshee worx stuff. Also you've produced 'similar' copies of other songs (which have been mentioned before) and in a world where originality is lacking, surely as someone who CAN do better, you should ?
Finally, be careful what you say about 'us' all as you may be able to be better than us, work for a big label, in a big studio & with big people, but at the end of the day we are the people supporting you, buying your music and without us you'd be working at the local supermarket or in a long job with low pay & no satisfaction at all. You have what so many of us would kill for, not only the ability to produce, but the equipment & contacts to do so on a regular basis. I think this gives us the right to be 'negative' as sometimes the most 'negative' criticism is actually what you need to hear. |

Great post.
Besides, from what I understand (which doesn't seem to be a lot according to some) most of these so-called "bashings" seemed to be more or less tongue in cheek. |

Arksun doesnt post alot here, but when he does, it makes sense though :)
Ian made some good points too i think, but like Arksun said if it isnt your thing anymore, dont buy it and move on. |

Job well done Neo...
And on topic, upon listening to the first 2 discs I think this is at its best, simply average. I'm admittedly not big into this side of EDM as much anymore so my view is skewed, but in general I'm just not feeling this right now...
It's a shame though, Airwave (And aliases) has produced some pretty amazing music IMO... |

Criticism != negativity. |

I agree with what Ian wrote.
It's also sad to see that L-vee can't take any criticism which I thought only was the case with new arrogant producers (no names mentioned, they all know who they are).
As Ian mentioned, alot of those who criticized this album are the oldest of L-vee's fans. I personally own practically all of L-vees early releases, including the hard to find ones. And most I will never sell because they have a special place in my collection.
Arksun mentioned that one can enjoy various types of trance. I persoanlly enjoy both deep dark progressive and epic melodic trance.
Unfortunatly the recent trend in the trance buisness is heading towards the rather boring uninspiring mcprog sound which producers such as Andy Moor, Gabriel & Dresden and Markus Schulz is pushing.
It's not that our love for trance have faded it. It's still as strong as it was 10 years ago. One just can't ignore the fact that the trance of today isn't very trancy at all.
As earlier mentioned this is hopefully a trend which will pass by quickly.
And producers must be able to accept criticism, negative or positive!! |

Mcprog is good for some, bad for others. People can say its uninspiring but its only their own comment it doesnt change others thoughts about the music. If i were l-vee i would just read all these negative posts but dont really care, do the music you like, there are ALOT more people who likes your music then dislike it.
Personlly i love mcprog and L-vee's latest stuff (not only latest) and i dont care what people think about it.
And rebel, there are not only good critcism here there are alot of pointless posts also which i can understand that the producers react too. |

Not to raise any hell with ya man (not to mention this is a little off topic) but have you heard a set lately from G+D? They are spinning nothing near the "#4 Mc Prog combo" sound...they spin electro/housey/techno "stuff". (for lack of better words)
Boring? Uninspiring?..So from what i gather it doesnt inspire you which is perfectly fine. So this Airwave album may not be for you but It seems to inspire tons of the rest of the world. So what is the big deal?
Welcome to the sound of tomorrow...
In defense of Lolo, do you guys honestly think hes going to read a thread like this ...after working so hard for over a year and get a smile upon his face from cheek to cheek? I know I wouldn't...
Over a year of passionate heartfelt work can go down the tube in a matter of posts. Try pointing out some of the good things...not so much the bad...pick ONE track or somthing that u kinda maybe sorta feel..and say "Niceone" thats alot better than saying "this is a huge disappointment" |

wait.. so if someone doesn't like a track he should say it's a "nice one" :conf:
i appreciate a lot the time and effort people take to make music, but how does this sort of attitude help at all? it only lowers down the standarts. i believe this even partially leads to the fact so much crap music get released nowadays |
