funny, there was a similarly hilarious exchange between stewart douglas (a toronto tech DJ who doesn't play much anymore) and frankie bones on another message board a couple of years ago.

somehow this doesn't surprise me.. in fact I think he first coined the term 'frankie boner' to me.

Funny...this track was just released on Intec and when I listened to it in the store, both sides of the record were pressed exactly the same! Intec, how long have you been pressing and distributing vinyl?!
I couldn't believe it...it was even labelled incorrectly as well. the release is supposed to have 3 tracks on it.

Intec used to be one of those labels that I would have to automatically check out when I saw a new release... now I can barely be bothered. The Alan Banford - Best of British ep was a solid 4 tracker... but that's like one out of the past 7 or so by my count and maybe 2 of the last 10.

I noticed there is a new Drumcode coming out though - Hardcell and Grindvik Gainlane 6... charted by all the swedes. That's probably one of the few techno labels that has been around as long as it has that I think has stayed very consistent with their releases... still dope!
I hope they kept the same theme as the entire Gainlane series, it's those type of releases that help me appreciate vinyl more.
Skipper
I normally don't check out Intec either Kate, but tim (at play de) just hands me a pile and I go through it. One of the tracks was pretty solid actually, but I still couldn't believe such a stupid mistake was made...I wonder how many other copies went out like that.

roight.. customer service! I forgot what that was like here.
I don't have that kind of personal attention with Juno.
Skipper
It's pretty swell. play de record and 2thebeat keep me from buying new releases online...this week I saw many new releases on juno that I had already listened to at play de.

I just borrowed an i-river with recording functionality (the H-10, which I have, doesn't have that) - I'm going to do a 2-3hr jam session this week and hopefully record it without any troubles. time to get a new mix out - I've been buying the weirdest, quirkiest minimal techno lately!

downloading this Gayle San set right now.. I haven't heard it before. She's probably my favourite female techno dj.

Gayle San - 2004 - Atomic Sun

if that were a Baseball/Hockey card it would be worth tons$$! :p

and in regards to the LABELS issue. I try to keep blind to that. I find the more u become a label feen... it alters your judgement and u miss out on tracks that prehaps would otherwise blow you away.

Agreed! this is why it's good to have someone in a store that knows your tastes and has heard everything coming in...I'd never have time to go through everything!
