I bought two trees today. they're called Loblolly Pine
right now they look like the poor sapling from the Charlie Brown Christmas special, but these ******s can grow up to 100 feet tall, apparently. i'll be long gone before that happens, but they're pretty cool.
oh, and i have no idea what the i was doing. i've never done any kind of vegetation growing / landscaping before.
yard before [note satellite dish]

yard after

notice the underground satellite/cable wire? lol, oops

well, its a good thing i cut the cable at the other end too. one my last break [like 5 days ago], i got rid of the satellite dish, and disconnected the wires at the house....cutting it at the grass. and when i planted the tree, i was like, oh perfect spot - there's a whole already....forgetting the wire was still there. but it's not connected to anything, cause it's cut at the other end. lol |

i hope they stay up - i didn't realize that it recommended that you use guy wires for the first year or so. but i buried the base so deep in the ground, i think they'll be fine.
guess i'll know when tonight's thunderstorms roll through, lol |

just get like 6 pieces of lath, like .25 x 2 inch wood spikes!, and put 3 around each. Those will blow over, and if not completely over, they will be blow to the side and grow crooked. and nobody wants crooked trees, nobody! |
