myself and others in this thread firmly believe that this complaining thing has been blown out of proportions by the (english) medias because they suck Harper balls who is pro-israeli.

The silent majority is grateful.

Downtown Beirut doesnt look that bad...but thats the capital ... anyways, all my best to them and the people over their. Many innocent lives will be lost and thats the unfortunate truth of war.

Hmmm. Well watching all the coverage and listening to people rant or rave makes me feel proud.

Proud that I live in a country that felt obligated to help its citizens when a crazy situation developed almost overnight.

Proud that nobody questioned whether there were only "certain" Canadians who were eligible to receive this help, but instead felt that everyone deserved to be aided.

Proud that whether a person could afford to pay for this help or not did not affect their ability to get out of a dangerous position.

Proud that as a nation, we allow our citizens to travel, work - and live - in another place as a matter or course without questioning whether they are still Canadian citizens.

Proud that hundreds of Canadian employees worked their asses off under extreme circumstances to make sure that any Canadian who needed assistance was able to get it.

Yes some people complained. They were under intense stress, were fearful for their very lives - and the lives of their family and friends. And they were forced as a matter of circumstance to endure what had to be a very tough ordeal; both physically and emotionally. I probably would have lashed out in some way too.

But.
I'm proud that I live in a country where I am allowed to complain sometimes, and to voice frustrations sometimes, and wish my goverment handled things differently sometimes.

I guess I am just proud.
