I didn't dislike Hasek until 2002...anyhow, Roy is the greatest goalie of all time in my eyes and tied for my favorite of all time. |

i'm a bit late on this one, but those who witnessed the '93 miracle when the Canadiens won the cup know that it was Patrick who singlehandedly brought the cup home.
The '93 edition of the Habs was composed of a bunch of very average players with no stars other than Roy.
I still regret that dreadful day when that stupid hot headed cretin Tremblay left Roy on the ice to humiliate him when the Habs lost 8-1 to the Red Wings.
No player deserved such treatment from his own coach. If the Habs weren't a team with such a prestigious past and "established" ways of doing things, he would have retired in Montréal.
Scotty Bowman regretted that win against the Canadiens because he said that the trade following that incident ultimately took away two cups from the wings who were the other powerhouse in the west.
My dream: see Roy in a decade or so coach the Habs, when he'll be ready. |

+1 back before the goalie equipment got a little out of hand in terms of size etc.
He was a great talent, and perfected the style that is most in use today. No, he wasn't the first by any means, but he made it so effective that others had to follow suit. |

for someone whose technique is "not goaltending", he's held up his own for most of his career. ;) |

in all honesty he doesn't have a specific technique, imo he basically flops around BUT he's pretty damn good for someone who flops around the net. i don't particularly like his style but he's effective |

yeah Roy is my all-time favorite player too.... but hasek is no scrub.... I mean, he's like 60 years old and still has game...
but ROY > Hasek.... no doubt... |

Hasek doesn't have a "defined" style of goaltending, people call it acrobatic because he jumps all over the place. Doesn't mean he's not an awesome goaltender.
But in the goalie schools they won't teach that style anytime soon. |

if Hasek's flopping around style never worked out, he would have out of the league in the mid 90s

It's one thing to debate if he is better than Roy which can go on forever (Roy > Hasek IMO). However, if you're trying to discredit his ability when the facts are CLEARLY contradicting you, you're really making yourself look like a ignorant dumbass ;) |
