Some respected scientists do disagree with global warming theories, Freeman Dyson being one of them. |
Aye they do, my old science teacher did also, and what he didn't know wasn't worth .
Most CO2 is used by microorganisms in the sea, forget all the tree and greenery nonesense.
CO2 is the biggest cause of Global Warming.
Rates of reaction increase with temperature, so as sea temp rises, the microorganisms rates of reaction increases too. They can use more CO2 and produce more O2 = less green house gas = lower temperature. |

well of course if they get stupidly hot then yes well done they die.
but seriously short of the earth flying into the sun the sea isnt likely to get to the stage where enzymes of the bacteria/plankton start to denature and can no longer function. |

| I believe that what we are experiencing is the natural, cyclical warming of the earth exacerbated by human activity. That said, I find the global warming debate to be pointless. The debate should not be about whether or not the burning of fosil fuels is leading to a warming of the planet, this is mearly a sideshow and a distraction. The real issue is our consumption of non-renewable resources. Coal, oil, natural gas, etc, once they're gone they are gone. While it is unlikely this will happen in our lives it will likely happen in the next two centuries (or at very least we will realize a scarcity of these resources) should we not find alternative engergy sources. The more we consume energy and the resources used to create it like the horrible pigs we are the worse it will be for future generations. Much like those of us in the industrialized world have been saddled with are Parents and Grandparents National Debts our grandchildren and great grandchildren will be saddled with our resource scarcities. |

I'm all for global warming. I hate cold weather but am forced to live in the midwest. I can remember 15 years ago we had at least 5 good snows a year. And January and February were ing nightmares where we were lucky to get above freezing most days. In the last 5 years I don't think we have had more than one decent snowfall a year and I cant remember a string of more than a few days where its been below freezing. Today its 60 degrees outside.
Global warming, natural climate change, whatever you want to call it I like it and want more of it. |
