So, what would the world be like if the average global temperature went up between 2.5 and 10.4 Fahrenheit? |

Today Al Gore has done a conference about global warning in Madrid, exponing all the causes of global warning and how to solve the problem. I thin he's the only one that has done something against global warning. I dont't stand why he's not the president and how the americans elected such a monkey like bush. We will all die if this is not stopped |

Because of fear. Remember how public opinion in Spain was like after the Madrid bombings? |

Well first off, we can't stop global warming. Takes 15 Years for CFCs to reach the O-zone, And they can stay in the atmosphere for a century. They weren't even banned until 1978. Aerosol cans used it before then, and so did refrigerators and air conditioning systems. CFCs are still being used in other countries, and are being pumped out even more so than before.

CFCs are also the least of our problems. If we wanted to stop global warming right now, we would have to cease all fossil fuel emissions and start planting trees like it was our job.
We aren't going to stop burning fossil fuels, we are actually producing MORE. Texas is building 17 more "Dirty" burning coal plants. Don't forget that forests in Brazil, Africa, and Southeast Asia (Those poor orangutans) are being harvested everyday.
Al Gore is too optimistic, the damage is done. |

i know the source is credible, but i would really like to know exactly how they knew what the amount of CFCs in the atmosphere were back in 1900 and earlier. seriously?
this also does not specify *where* in the atmosphere. is this an average amount? if so, how could they measure it at parts over the oceans&antartica? and how would they measure that back in the early 1900s? |

I imagine they just looked at the average rate of change and just depreciated from the beginning of record keeping. I don't know what I'm saying, but it sounds good. |
