Well said. In general I'm quite pleasant to staff serving me and don't give them any hassle. If they exceed my expectations I'll feel a tip is justified. Abroad if it's expected I'll leave a tip but it's not up to the customer to be paying gaps in wages, the service staffs employers should pay them better wages or they should change jobs.
There is a lot of differences between us lot and the guys across the pond. Like Trick or Treating that's organised begging In my opinion.
The only time when trick or treating was a laugh was when some Pakistani family told us to go away so my mate put his through their letterbox and pissed into the house. Saying that we were the most hated kids in that area for a good few years afterwards. :stongue: |

no i don't get your point at all. waiters and waitresses work for tips, that's the only point that this thread needs to make. they don't work for a salary or an hourly wage that could pay the bills.
i was a server at a pretty upscale steakhouse a few years ago, and my paychecks every couple of weeks from them were about $65 at the most. our hourly wage was around $2.75. that's how it is all over the U.S. servers do not make minimum wage. it's one of the few (or quite possibly the only) jobs that is excused from minimum wage where they make LESS.
it doesn't mean i necessarily agree with it, but it is what it is, and it just annoys me that people won't tip because they simply don't agree with it, or because where they come from, that's not how it is.
