its not the same thing. consumers provide the profit, they shouldnt be forced to pad an employees salary. the minimum wage in the US is a disgrace, business should be paying their employees more. if that means higher prices, fine. but we shouldnt have to pay employees directly. |

More than half of new restaurants go out of business in the first 3 years. Usually they leave with a lot less money than they started with. |

Tipping isn't expected practice in Australia (minimum wages are high enough for people to live off) and the restaurant industry isn't on the brink of destruction. |

Hate to break it to ya, but as a bus boy you are expendible. The servers don't have to tip you out, but if they did it would be nice. I'd just keep working like nothing happened. When you get promoted to server you can be the one who does the right things.
I dishwashed, bussed, did production, cooked and cut in the kitchen, served, bartended and managed the floor on weekend days. Trust me, you'll get higher up if you keep your mouth shut and do your job without complaint. It sucks but that's just the way it is.

Also, it should be noted that I am at school from when i wake up until 3PM then i leave for work at 4pm and get home at 1045pm... that gives me 1 hour of "me" time a day.
Regardless, as a result of this service, I make everyone's job easier and it is customary for servers to tip the busboy say $3-$15 a night as a "thank you".
On busy nights I occasionally make $30 in tips...
Tonight, however, though there were four (4) servers, I made approximately (rather, exactly) $0 in tips... this upsets me and I am pissed.
I can't confront them because they dont HAVE to give me tips -in a way I am their bitch.
How should I either:
a. exact revenge
b. prevent this from happening

Seriously though, for 's sake - grow up. Instead of scrounging for more from the wealthier more important people in life, try getting a less demeaning job. It's like I'm reading a modern day version of Oliver ing Twist. 'Please sir, can I have some more?'

you should "forget" to do stuff for them from now on. only do the things you are supposed to do like set the tables, etc...
if any of them pull that, "oh hey will, can u bla bla bla"
just say, "sure THHHHBBBBBBPPPPPTTTTT" (that's supposed to be the fart noise you make with your mouth)

that does suck though, sorry to hear that. i was a cocktail waitress at a night club in miami briefly, and i always took care of my bus boy. they are what made my service good!
