I am a bus boy at a restaurant.
I give people bread and water.
I stock the water glasses.
I make sure theres enough ice in the kitchen and for the cups.
I prepare the bread.
I clear tables.
I clean tables.
I set tables.
I do odd jobs for the servers.
I refill people's bread/water.
I tray up butter.
I do other such background tasks of restaurant work...
Also, it should be noted that I am at school from when i wake up until 3PM then i leave for work at 4pm and get home at 1045pm... that gives me 1 hour of "me" time a day.
Regardless, as a result of this service, I make everyone's job easier and it is customary for servers to tip the busboy say $3-$15 a night as a "thank you".
On busy nights I occasionally make $30 in tips...
Tonight, however, though there were four (4) servers, I made approximately (rather, exactly) $0 in tips... this upsets me and I am pissed.
I can't confront them because they dont HAVE to give me tips -in a way I am their bitch.
How should I either:
a. exact revenge
b. prevent this from happening

| i was also once a busboy but at a really nice restaurant at downtown ftlaud. makin at least 50 dollars in tips on weekdays! your best bet is to find a better restauruant or a new job being a buser is hard work and you pretty much have to do everything.. |

a. Don't bother with revenge. It's business, not personal.
b. You would have to get political. By that I mean favor the servers that tip you the best. Do the very minimum for everyone else. Never let them know that's what you're doing. If you're up to it you can even make a discreet arrangement with one or two servers. With your help they'll make more $ than the others. Above all be respectful to all of them. |

I manage a restuarant now & no matter how slow it is, the servers always "bus out" at the end of thier shift. Its based off thier sales. The more the sales the more the bus tip.
basically Winiz, you should always get tipped. |

and make sure that all the other busboys work with you. the servers will get the message fast when all the busboys start favouring the servers that tipout |

this will prob work
there is one server who never tips... and two are starting to tip a lot less, while others tip well all the time.

| talk to your boss with other fellow busboys to see if you guys can start getting a chunk out of the waiters' tips |

| i've always seen tipping as a huge scam. i mean i know u guys make like 7$ an hour but u only get paid that much cause of tips! its not my job to pay your wages, its your bossess job to pay you well enough to live. I pay your bossyourr boss pays you. to me tipping is just something employers use to their advantage for cheap labour, and to cancel out the middle man (him) from paying you respectful rates. its bull for the consumer |
