Well, if they don't like the wages then they should be looking for a better job. I don't know why they don't factor this "standard" 20% into the price. People should give tips when they are deserved, and not feel obliged just because the pay is ty. They need to get the minimum wage sorted out for a start. |

You should count yourself lucky that your not in the UK because we don't give tips here.
I'd look for something else mate. The job title bus boy sounds a bit derogatory if you ask me I wouldn't stand for being called it. |
Indeed. It's hardly expected at all over here, and that's the way it should be. Why the would you expect to be paid 10-20% more of an asking price, just because you managed to bring a plate from one room to another? A 3 year old could do that for 's sake, so expect to be paid accordingly. If that's not gonna cut the mustard with your expenses at home then get a better job.
I was in America not too long ago - with Sy from here actually. We couldn't believe what ing scroungers the waiters and bar attendants were. If you paid by card, then on the receipt it would have an extra line for the tip - and some times with a suggested amount as well. We wrote ' OFF.'
I am not cheap, and will ALWAYS tip well if I like who is dealing with me - But NOT because I feel I have too, and NEVER if I feel it's expected. I'll let them know as well. " right off with that ," is what I'll say. |

Exactly.
Same goes for doorkeepers at clubs. |

Of course we adapted and complied with the culture. I think it's closed minded and stupid not to when travelling abroad, even if you don't agree with it - It's apart of the experience after all. We tipped at bars, we tipped at restaurants, and we would probably have tipped the ing turnstyles if everyone was doing it. But when some gimp handed us a piece of a paper with a 'suggested amount' on it we both cringed HARD.
I am not ing cheap. I have however, killed for far less insubordination with regards to an implication like that.

that "gimp" probably did what the manager told him to do. don't always assume. and it's common knowledge among servers (at least down here in south florida) that foreigners don't tip, so i'm sure he heard your ed up accents and just wanted to remind you politely (would have been worse if he actually added the tip into the bill, or better yet, TOLD you about the gratuity) what the suggested tip is...you twat. :D |

South Florida is NOT a good place to base any opinions about gratuity on.
I ing hate Miami, and everyone who owns a service business there. |

lol I leave huge tips. Me and 4 friends had Denny's breakfast Saturday and I left the asian lady 10$ on a 46$ bill.
Only cause she had the craziest Korean accent I've ever heard in LA.
"HAWO WECRUM DENNY, YIU HABE A SAMETIN DLINK?"
"I'll have the grand slam breakfast"
"GLAN SRAM? HAOW YIU LIKE YO EEEEG?"
